U.S. Embassy Asks Bush Twins to Leave Country
ABC News ^ | November 27, 2006 | Joe Goldman and Rhonda Schwartz

Posted on 11/27/2006 11:30:43 AM PST by West Coast Conservative

Amid a growing barrage of front-page headlines, U.S. embassy officials "strongly suggested" President Bush's twin daughters, Jenna and Barbara Bush, cut short their trip to Buenos Aires because of security issues, U.S. diplomatic and security sources tell ABC News.

But the girls have stayed on, celebrating their 25th birthday over the weekend and producing even more headlines about their activities.

Officials say the media coverage upstaged publicity plans for the new U.S. Ambassador Anthony Wayne, who had only recently arrived in the country.

Neither the White House nor the U.S. embassy in Buenos Aires responded to requests for comment.

The Argentinean press blitz followed a report on "The Blotter" last week that Barbara Bush's purse and cell phone were stolen last weekend while dining at the popular San Telmo outdoor marketplace despite being guarded by the Secret Service.

Stories of the twins' visit took on wild proportions in the Argentinean press. One tabloid headline had the young women running nude in the hallway of their hotel, a report the hotel staff denied to ABC News.

According to sources, the U.S. embassy encouraged the two girls to cut their stay short because the added attention was making their security very difficult.

But to the dismay and anger of some U.S. embassy and security staff, the girls stayed on.

Thursday night, an ABC News producer was able to walk into their hotel unchecked and engage Barbara Bush in conversation while she checked her e-mail on a computer in the lobby. Jenna sat talking with friends on a sofa nearby. No Secret Service agents were anywhere to be seen in the lobby, according to ABC News' Joe Goldman.

And yesterday the Bush twins were spotted at the Sunday soccer matches, wearing team jerseys and sitting in the owner's box, watching Argentina's top team Boca Juniors compete. Several games have been canceled due to violence in the crowds this year. In fact, last weekend no spectators were allowed to attend the match other than season ticket holders.

Sources tell ABC News the twins plan to stick to their original itinerary and stay in Buenos Aires until Thursday.

I had the pleasure of seeing the twins up close, hearing their speech to a small crowd and shaking Barbara's hand back in Nov. 2004 just before the Presidential election when they stopped in for an unannounced rally at the campaign HQ where I was volunteering -- and they were delightful young women.

Correct ... the outright viciousness and hateful treatment of this decent man is relentless and utterly depraved. And they haven't a clue of the resolve and courage W has, nor 1/100th of his integrity. I wish in our lifetime we could witness them taking responsibility and making amends for their despicable behavior, but I doubt it will happen.

I just know that his character and qualities stand out above the rest, and anyone with a brain who cares to examine the truth understands who bravely stood tall, and did his very best every day to do good against the most blatantly disrespectful and abusive media and opposition party.

If I couldn't multi-task I'd be dead. :)

If I still could I'd still be working 12 hour days. At age 37 12 years ago I retired on medical disability. The fact I can focus on issues one at a time pin point has saved my life with a diagnoses the doctors couldn't find so they stopped giving me poison to my body and once for my wife as well when they nearly killed her not understand a adverse medication reaction much like giving someone LSD.

I joined the Navy in 76 with single eye vision that I hid and they did not detect in my physical. I made NCO within 2.5 years and got out at the end of 4. I joined a Army National Guard unit and again passed the physical. After that I passed a D.O.T. physical and drove an 18 wheeler a while. Then I went back to my vocation and did ok till 1994. It caught up with me in a few months time. I'm technically one eye functional and partially deaf now. But I get by :>} I also have the skills of an LPN and use them daily.

Has that happened? Or did you just read it on ABC?

Are the people of Argentina any more upset with the Bush twins than you are? I doubt it.

No doubt of that, Mo. But I'm not about to get tripped up by their games.

As I see it, STARWISE, the more vicious the attack on the President, the farther away from his depth of character and honor the accuser is.

And that includes not only the vile MSM, but those on this forum who attack him incessantly as well.

None of them hold a candle to his strength and resolve, nor his dignity or class.

I'm not upset -- except regarding the commotion or potential for commotion. And, as I mentioned, also interesting is the defense of them.

You keep saying that, but there's nothing unusual about the 'defense' at all.

This has become a circular argument, and you still insist that the twins have done something wrong just by being in a foreign country, having dinner and going to a soccer game.

If that's what you choose to believe in spite of the truth, more power to you, durasell.

There is something to be said for stubbornness of mind in the face of facts to the contrary of one's opinion. I'm just not sure what.....

Good night.

Ah now I know why you miss my point. The twins did not wrong based on the facts I agree 100% and have not disputed that part. However some Freepers did do a major wrong THAT was my point. I was trying to make the point to such as those WHY they should not have cheered them on.

I am a stubborn one I have to be. Yes I'll argue a point I know I'm right on. I have had to do it many times to get the required results.

I'll argue with a doctor when I know I'm right for example and one night I almost went to the point of going off physically on one who denied preforming prudent medical protocols. I was right enough any jury no matter how conservative in a criminal or civil court would not have convicted me.

I have been in a not quite as serious reverse Schavio position before but thank GOD the COMA was reversible. Getting the doctors to even recognize a COMA was the problem. Long story but a FR debate in which I was wrong in made me think in a manner needed at the time. Those Freepers you would likely call Tinfoilers or Kooks but they were right about a potentially fatal medical condition that can occur when doctors are lax with SSRI's. I later thanked those Freepers I can give you user names if you wish. Six doctors missed an acute Serotonin Syndrome diagnoses. They missed it not once but twice. I had to face a possibility of taking a loved one by force if necessary out of state. I went as far as discussing it with family members involved. That is why I nearly decked an E.R. doctor. He refused to even check for stroke or do a Brain Scan CAT or MRI. As a result of their failure to do basic diagnostic protocol a mild stroke occured with that person.

You know even when I showed the doctors the medical alert from their own Professor of Pharmacology they still said rubbish.

I have fought against a nightmare medical care system created by Al Gore, Hillary Clinton, and supported by a RINO governor afterward as well as the current U.S. senate majority leader in my home state. Yea I'm stubborn I have to be. I believe what government funds it should have accountability for. Bill Frist does not nor Hillary. I learned many Republicans are as much socialist as the DEMs in many cases. In that respect I don't support the ones who are including ones like Frist. For example it was within Frist power to end Hillary Care in my state. Instead he helped secure funding. He then used the nightmare he supported in Tennessee and turned it into Medicare reform. That is one reason why Senate candidate Corker did not get my vote but neither did Dem Ford. You see Corker was a Finance Commissioner to the RINO governor we had who tried to bankrupt the state and let Hillary Care HMO fraud run rampant. His solution was pushing for a state income tax. It didn't work. Oddly enough we have had a DEM governor just elected to a second term who despite being a self proclaimed Liberal is the most conservative governor we have had in my life time even more conservative than RINO Lamar Alexander who also supported the former RINO governors wrongs. That is why I vote Independent.

I'm stubborn enough I have stood alone against a federal agency who tried to abuse Eminent Domain Laws against me. I was threatened with the prospect of a visit from a U.S. Marshall to by force take land that was not rightfully compensated for. In short I was lied to on a right of way agreement and paid one third of the land they actually took. Instead of a Marshall a real-estate clerk showed up with a tree stump counter. Because I was stubborn three neighbors they also ran over got just compensation also. Now I am level headed and smart enough I gave that agency no cause to try and arrest me.

I'm stubborn enough one night on the ship I disobeyed a LT Commanders direct order and was not disciplined for it. I quoted him the Command Duty Officers standing order and was ordered three times to disobey it by him and once by a Marine Captain. I called the bluff and said let's go talk to the Captain about your order sir if he agrees with you I will obey.

When I'm wrong I back down and I backed down on this thread after information was stated that said the event did not happen. What I did not back down on was saying Freepers were wrong to encourage the POTUS daughters to do something very dangerous and stupid. The one who actually said it was the one who got the post stating such initially. Go back and look.

What I am saying is I can not be intimidated by someones cute mind games trying to make me look a fool when the message was clear. I backed off several times saying the incident did not happen. Not one Freeper who posted irresponsibly cheering them on however did. Maybe you should ask them why. The game might have worked except I was not the only poster trying to make the exact same point of the danger Freepers were cheering on. Yea it was obvious what was being done and it did not work Checkmate :>}

Thanks but you don't know even the half of it :>} No regrets. If you knew the entire story of it all you would know why I do what I do. You may think I was nuts for doing it but some things are worth all your being. I've had different experiences than a lot of persons have and as a result draw different conclusions on my political thinking because of it. No real hatred for Bush as a person. You will not find anything beyond smirking chimp about him personally. I never did articles on draft dodging, drugs, etc against him. Not a one. I do disagree with his politics as much as I do the DEMs. Simply put they are too close to each other.

Sorry, I did not call Reagan a RINO or I would not be calling for another Reagan. Reagan did not pretend to be someone else. Funny how both Bush presidents ran as Reagan-style Republicans. Neither one has proved to be anything like Reagan.

Bush ran as Bush not as Reagan. He never pretended to be anything other than exactly what he was, and he has not disappointed anyone who was actually paying attention.

Apparently you weren't. Your loss. An historical presidency is occurring and it's going right over your head.

"That was when she was 19. You haven't heard anything about her since then?"

Sure I have.

I assume you're criticizing my comment that she ditched the Secret Service before. Of course I know she was younger (still at college) then. I don't know what happened this time -- when the reporter was allowed to approach Barbara and actually talk to her in a hotel lobby with no interference from the Secret Service, & I just wonder if the SS had backed off at the request of the First Daughters.

I can understand that young women might not enjoy the constant surveillance they are subjected to; they want to live their lives. They are human, and they are young. I assume that's what was behind the earlier ditching. I don't think that, because they're older now, they like it any more, and I imagine they try to shed it when they can.

You need to become more well informed then.

They are six years older and much wiser.

They listened to Grandma when they messed up before, and haven't done it since.

Let me clarify this.......because President Bush has spent too much money and supported Arlen Specter, he is a traitor?

You are calling President Bush a traitor? Is that right?

Your reading comprehension is poor. Treachery is when someone runs as a conservative and backs the ultra-Left in the party and among the Democrats. Education spending bill - we probably would have had less with Gore, not that I voted or could vote for the man.
