CHEVROLET will show its first diesel-engined car at this year's Bologna Motor Show.

Set to go on UK sale in the first half of 2007 and distinguished by a new, chrome finished radiator grille, the new Lacetti TCDi comes with an all-new 2.0-litre common rail turbo diesel engine, developing 121PS at 3,800rpm and 280Nm of torque at 2,000rpm.
With a Bosch-developed common-rail injection system, the new engine allows the car to accelerate from 0-62mph in just 9.8 seconds and on to a top speed of 117mph, returning a combined fuel economy figure of 58.8mpg in the Lacetti five-door hatchback and 52.3mpg in the larger Lacetti Station Wagon.
Prices and trim levels will be announced nearer to the launch date.
* Over 160,000 Lacetti models have been sold throughout Europe since its introduction in 2003

Rest In Peace, old friend, your work is finished.......
If you want on or off the DIESEL "KNOCK" LIST just FReepmail me........
This is a fairly HIGH VOLUME ping list on some days......
Those big, chrome "radiator grilles" do not look good, in my opinion. The only marque that comes close to pulling it off is Audi. It looks strange on the new VW models, and hideous on the Ford Explorer. This is one automotive fad that should fade fast.
As far as this Chevy "Lacetti," how many of these things could GM sell in the US, instead of that peculiar Aveo?
Years ago we had a diesel Mercedes. Talk about no pick up, it couldn't get out of it's on way. I had a problem with a guy harassing me on the highway, he was in a old junker but there was no way I could escape him. He finally got tired of bothering me and left me alone. We got rid of that car soon after.
...or vice versa.......
Those days are long gone. Newer technologies have brought the diesel performance up to par with gasoline engines, so the old slow engines of yesteryear need not be a factor.........
I hate the Chrysler 300 grille. It looks like a sewer grate.......
That engine's gotta go through the federal certification process - a veritable minefield of red tape. BTW, does anyone know when the EPA began certifying fuel economy numbers? Wasn't that previously a task assigned to USDOT?
The Mercury grills on the new cars look like plastic junk.
I actually saw a 78 Seville for sale recently, 68,000 miles and it was a diesel. Something tells me the engine had been replaced under warranty, though, lol, although I don't understand why they put another one in, instead of a gasoline engine.
Ford seems determined to kill Mercury. Pity.
I'd consider a diesel if the price of the fuel goes down to around gasoline levels.
The 300C is less obnoxious than the ones that are plastichrome from the top edge of the hood, all the way down below the bumper. Just wait 'til that crap starts to haze over, bubble up and let go ... it'll look REAL sharp then.
Do the math.............
Regards, Ivan
"My husband has an 'o5 diesel Cheve P/U. The acceleration is pretty good but it is a rough driving rough riding truck. He loves it, I don't."
That's because it's probably a work truck disqused as an everyday pick up. I get the same complaints from my wife about my Ford. I'll be trading it in soon for a smoother riding truck if I can find one.
