Dramatic new details of the deadly mayhem include the undercover cop at one point climbing onto the hood of Bell's car - his gun drawn and his police shield around his neck - screaming, "Police! Turn off your car! Let me see your hands!" said sources who talked to some of the cops involved in the shooting.
When Bell then tried to run down the plainclothes officer - twice - the cop began shooting, with some of his 11 bullets piercing the rear window of the man's Nissan Altima, the sources said. -snip-

A car is a weapon and what he had sitting in the seat next to him was unknown.
I wish I knew the rest of that story.
What do the pro-criminal newspapers you seem too trust more say about thugs with prior felony records, mouthing-off about guns & "f-- him up", using a car to run into cops and cop cars?
Yeah, like they wouldn't lie. ROTFL
They were firing at an automobile - if it's still coming at them, it's still a target.
Channel 5 in Boston stuck this story in the 11 o'clock news last night right after the story about the five people shot at a party in Dorchester. Five said that the men were shot leaving a Batchelor Party at a Strip Club. One half hour later, Channel 7 reported that the men were shot after their car rammed two unmarked police cars. bias?
Yeah, like Sharpton and the perps wouldn't lie. Take your pick.
Yes, one officer did empty two clips into the car, but it was still moving at the time.
My concern is who was in charge of this group of undercover officers and did the person in charge conduct a briefing with those officers as to what the operational plan was and take into account what their roles would be if the operation went to sh--t?
The officers were put on admin duty, but why not include their supervisor?
"The five cops who fired shots were put on administrative duty. Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said it was the first time that any of the officers were involved in a shooting.
Around the same time, an unmarked Toyota Camry driven by a plainclothes police lieutenant and another cop behind him pulled up, but overshot Bell's car. A police van with an officer and the narcotics detective then managed to block Bell's car in"

Do the people of New York get to use guns to stop traffic accidents? I understood it was an unmarked car, no arrest, no one yelling we're cops, etc.
Of course we'd have to be in his shoes but I might have done the same also. You see cops everyday but never one thats undercover. If someone points a gun at me and says he's a cop, I'm sorry but I'D NEED A LITTLE MORE THEN JUST HIS WORD.
Bell had three choices, back up (which if his car was parked that might not have been an option), run the guy over the maybe get away, or believe the guy and step out of the car and possibly get murdered.
Bell and his friends screwed up big time. So did the cops, they should have announced themselves before Bell got in his car.
I do have one question though, according to the cops Bell's friend was going back to the car to get a gun. Why then did three of them get into the car and start it up?
Which ones?
Just kidding (partially) - sounds like it's a justified shooting, but I'd like to see the police video if there is one. aka "Trust no one"
Clumsy sleight-of-hand.
We are talking about someone deliberately trying to run someone down - not an accident.
The simplest explanation is that they got wind of the police investigation at the club and wanted to hightail it out of there before they got arrested.
Incorrect.
A car can make a deadly weapon. It's just that the media focuses on guns.
Seems obvious to me. Good job NYPD!
More:
The undercover watched as an argument erupted between Bell's group, which included three male pals and the beefy man with the gun, and four other men - with the woman in the middle of them, the sources said.
The woman was overheard saying to the men arguing with Bell's pals, "I'm not doing you all. I'll do one or two, but not all," according to the sources.
Around the same time, the undercover said he heard Bell's friend Joseph Guzman tell his buddies, "Yo, get my gun! Get my gun! Let's get my gun from the car! Yeah, we're gonna f- - - him up!" the sources said.

Bell had been arrested three times in the past: twice for drugs and one on a gun rap in a case that was sealed. Guzman has been busted nine times, including for armed robbery. He spent two stretches in state prison in the '90s. Benefield has a sealed record as a juvenile for gun possession and robbery.
Some marijuana was later found near the Altima, and investigators believe that it may have been tossed out by the group before the gunfire. Two bullet casings also were recovered from the Altima, although cops said they do not believe they were from a police gun.
