BUENA PARK, Calif., -- Dr. Wiley S. Drake Sr. pastor of First Southern Baptist Church of Buena Park California, and newly elected 2nd Vice President of the Southern Baptist Convention, announced today that he is calling all people from all walks of life to boycott Wal Mart until the company repents and returns to the family roots put down deep by Christian businessman Sam Walton.

Drake said on his 63 birthday he sent the following letter to Lee Scott, President of Wal Mart:

Dear Mr. Scott,

Please accept my appreciation for Wal-Mart taking a stand to remain neutral in the cultural wars.

However as long as you are killing babies with your selling "Plan B" I will not return to your stores.

Also as long as you are still a member of the Homosexual Chamber of Commerce I will not return to your store.

I could go on but the list is long, and until Wal Mart Repents I will do all I can to keep people out of your stores.

I am pastor of First Southern Baptist Church of Buena Park California, and I am 2nd Vice President of the 16 million strong Southern Baptist Convention.

I am not speaking for my Church or my Denomination, but as the pastor, and member of my Church I do speak against you. I do not speak for the Southern Baptist Convention, but I do speak as a member against what you have done to my brother's company. Sam is a fine Christian, and now in Heaven, I'll see him again, and will be glad that I can say, I did all I could to bring WAL MART back to the Christian roots you planted.

Pastor Drake said I am asking all families to do what the Drake family is going to do. If only 5% of Wal Mart customers would stay out of their stores, and not spend with them what we spent last year it will cost them $200,000,000 dollars, and even to a giant like Wal Mart, that's a lot of money. The little guy and his family can make a difference.

Dr. Wiley S. Drake Buena Park, California

I'm more concerned about Wal-Mart selling an abortifacient than funding homo groups. Why did AFA relent?

In Massachusetts, all pharmacies are required to sell the "damn, was I drunk last night!" pill...without a prescription.

Not that this would surprise anyone.

Pride comes before a fall. The SBC should purge their church rolls... and I'm a little insignificant believer who serves a Big God.

I don't blame him for stating that. A huge corporation is not going to care about a citizen with no power.

Actually, the article states that. News articles often give the website of the subject.

Regardless, the numbers are purposely misleading.

I don't like Walmart anyway, so no need to ask me again. Does it count if you haven't shopped there for years? Or do I have to go buy a pile of **** first, just so I can show them I'm not a customer any more?
I'm more a Bugs Bunny fan as well.

"Author of 1996 Disney Boycott Calls for Boycott of Wal Mart"

That "boycott" didn't seem to impact Disney profits all that much. There was a small downward blip in 1996, but then it kept climbing until 1999.

Apparently so. The AFA just let up too quickly.

There are some positive things we can do. Some alternatives maybe? Find a Christian Store near you.

BTW, It appears AFA capitulated when Wally World said they would become "neutral" on controversial issues. Their definition might be elusive???

It must be hard to be Wal Mart. Democrats are after them, the labor unions are after them. They can't own a bank and publicity hounds like this guy are jumping on the Anti Wal Mart band wagon.

Clinton's settlement with Paula Jones was made from the Umbrella policy Clinton had with State Farm Insurance even though the State Farm policy clearly states that it does not pay if someone is charged with a crime. Where was this so-called religous leader then? Boycotting Disney? Give me a break.

A short list to be sure.

FWIW, this year I've decided to bypass Santa's retailers altogether and build some nice wind chimes for every one. Even the grandkids like wind chimes!!! Simple and relatively inexpensive.

All I can say is that financially speaking, it's a great deal easier to boycott Disney than WalMart!
