Parents Defend Son Accused In Haditha Slayings
KDKA ^ | November 24, 2006

Posted on 11/24/2006 6:01:23 PM PST by RedRover

WASHINGTON COUNTY-- Parents of a marine accused in the November 2005 slayings of Iraqi civilians in Haditha are coming to their son’s defense.

Lance Corporal Justin Sharratt, 22, who lived in western Pennsylvania for a time, is one of several Marines under investigation. Now, his parents, who grew up in Washington County, say their son told them he followed the rules of engagement.

They say their son was raised a Catholic and knows the difference between right and wrong. The Sharratt’s also say they believe the Marines have abandoned those implicated in the killings.

They also blame U.S. Rep. John Murtha for prejudging the Marines allegedly involved in the incident on national television.

So far, Sharratt is not been charged.

The U.S. Marine Corp had no comment on this story.

There is video at the link.

Ok, I'll grant you that the Great One had an alliance with the pope, but he also had an alliance with Saddam Hussein.....

Bump, unc. We can only hope that Murtha gets more wounds from this story. It's excellent timing because the MSM turned against him during the battle for Majority Leader. And as much as the MSM loves a liberal, they can't resist kicking a loser. This is a story that will keep growing.

Can't he be recalled by the voters and a special election held?

I've never heard of a congressman being recalled so I don't know if it's possible. Regardless, it's not too probable. Unfortunately, the voters of PA's 12th District have no interest in principle. They want a Congressman to bring home the pork. Murtha got something over 60% of the vote in this past election--and that's after his "cold-blooded killers" speech and the new revelations about ABSCAM.

Diana Irey hasn't decided whether to run again in '08. Her best chance, naturally, would be if Murtha decides to retire or if there's a major shift in fortunes for the GOP by '08. I'll take either. I just want to celebrate Murtha's departure from Congress.

No, the investigation is still ongoing. BTW, I went to the link you provided. It's a great site, but I didn't see anything about the Haditha Marines. Am I missing something?

Thanks for the dazzling insight. Now, how about buggering off and giving that one life of yours on another thread?

Html doesn't work in taglines, unfortunately.

Maybe you should consider talking to the Sharlett family and writing a piece. They've done interviews with the local media (there was a print piece a few days ago in the Pittsburg Post Gazette). They're probably open to anything that helps get the word out.

If you were interested, I'd also post anything you wrote online at DefendOurMarines.

Speaking of which, I have to take a murtha, but I can't stop reading this thread.

Oh murtha, it's too late!!!!!!

We need a revised pic of that guy saying " Aw, jeez! not this Murtha again!"

Unless his parents were THERE and witnessed this, it'll be chalked up to parental love defending their son.

True, the Marine's parents weren't there. But that isn't the point. The issue is justice.

Six months ago a congressman said that the Marines of Kilo Company were "cold blooded killers". There was "no doubt about it". Murtha repeated the charge, unchallenged, on many TV shows and in print.

Six months later, no charges have been filed, though "anonymous sources" in the DOD continue to tell sources such as NPR that charges are "coming soon".

So the parents are speaking out because they're sick of their son being used as a political pinata. They can speak as authorities on that subject.

I'm not happy with the quality of the image. I can do a better one on my work computer during the week. But maybe it'll do for now!

Cheers!

RedRover, I'll see what I can do tomorrow to do an article- also a story like htis should be brought to the attention of Michelle Malkin as she gets a ton of people on her sites both at michellemalkin.com and hotair.com - my site doesn't get too many people a day, but I'll do the story anyways
