Russian rocket deliveries to Iran started--"...latest sign of a Russian-US rift over Iran."

Russia has begun deliveries of the Tor-M1 air defence rocket system to Iran, Russian news agencies quoted military industry sources as saying, in the latest sign of a Russian-US rift over Iran.

"Deliveries of the Tor-M1 have begun. The first systems have already been delivered to Tehran," ITAR-TASS quoted an unnamed, high-ranking source as saying Friday.

The United States has pressed Russia to halt military sales to Iran, which Washington accuses of harbouring secret plans to build a nuclear weapon.

Moscow has consistently defended its weapons trade with Iran. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov said the contract for 29 rocket systems, signed in December last year, was legitimate because the Tor-M1 has a purely defensive role.

ITAR-TASS reported that the rockets were to be deployed around Iran's nuclear sites, including the still incomplete, Russian-built atomic power station at Bushehr.

In August, Washington announced sanctions against several companies, including Russian arms exporter Rosoboronexport, for supplying technology to Iran that could allegedly be used to develop missile technology and weapons of mass destruction.

Under the sanctions no US company can deal with foreign companies on the sanctions list for two years.

A spokesman for Rosoboronexport contacted by AFP would not confirm or deny the reports about the Tor-M1 delivery, which were also issued by the Interfax news agency.

The Tor-M1 is a low to medium-altitude missile fired from a tracked vehicle against airplanes, helicopters and other airborne targets.

The news came as the UN Security Council continued to consider possible sanctions against Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile activity in response to the Islamic republic's suspect nuclear programme.

The major powers have been debating a draft resolution drawn up by Britain, France and Germany that would impose limited sanctions on Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile sectors for Tehran's failure to comply with an earlier UN resolution on halting enrichment.

China and Russia, both close economic partners with Iran, argue the measures are too extensive, while Washington has pressed for tougher action.

Don't be fooled by the image posted. The images shows an SA-11. Iran has no SA-11s. The SA-15's being delivered to Iran are short to medium range SAMs. They can be tracked, wheeled or shelter mounted and in the world of SAMs are extremely potent.

"...All of this is predicted to happen and you can see that on www.joelrosenberg.com. Russia and Iran will attack Israel and be stopped literally by an act of God that will also destroy Radical Islam. Sounds crazy but all of what is happening was predicted by the prophet Ezekiel 2500 years ago. Things will get a lot worse before they get better and as the West is losing its spine to fight, God will have to step in..."

Russia needs to be told in no uncertain terms that when Iran uses the nukes, Russia will be held to account as well. They can't do this and think they don't share responsibility. But is Bush a Harry Truman?

Fortunately they won't like it either and at that point in time they will have only themselves to blame and I also feel the American public will know it.

I feel it's always hardest to teach our children the way, or path, to the Lord. It's easier to show someone else but family knows your life and lots of time they look at you with a critical eye.

That is the time where you have to let them go their own way and pray God turns them back. But as long as they've had that foundational teachings they will always have that "little voice in their head" sort to speak and eventually they will find their way.

KGB Putin only arms the ayatollahs with missiles and nuclear bomb technology for peaceful purposes. Putin's dedication to arming mass-murdering jihadists just proves his belief in peaceful free-trade capitalism.

Biggest hoax in history was the disollution of the former USSR, and the supposed winning of the cold war. Why does Russia have any teeth? We should have taken everything that wasn't nailed down as reparations for Eastern Europe.

This is not a rift in our relationship, this is part of Russias plan to destroy America. Pretending that Russia and China are good guys is foolish. They are arming the Jihad to use them as a proxy army against us. Where do we think all those AK 47's and RPG's the Jihadi are using against us in Afganistan and Iran are coming from? Late night shifts at Walmart?

>dump the strategic reserve oil and put these turkeys not bankruptcy

That would please Russia and China very much. When Iran Nukes our troops in Iraq and we have no forward army left, Russia and China will make their move. Russia has built for Iran the complete system necessary to mass produce nuclear weapons.

I am sure they have sold him a few warheads, or we would have taken Ahbeenanutjob out by now. He may be crazy, but he is not stupid, he knows if he pops his handful over Iraq now, he will be erased, he is waiting for his production lines to become fully established so that he has a permanent supply of nuclear arms.

Just how good are these missiles?

We cannot make their equal. They are good against cruise missles, fire at multiple targets from 40 feet above the ground to 40,000 feet. Pretty darn good. Russia pulled way ahead of us in Missile technology when Clintoon shut down all RnD in missile systems for his 8 years.

Heck, even Israel's missiles are superior to ours now.

No, God is not indifferent to us, we rejected God. There is a big difference.

Russia just don't get it!

Russia gets it, they just think differently than us. Russia is not liberal and figures when they are done using the Jihadi to take us out, they will nuke what remains of the Jihadi cities till Arab is a forgotten word in the dictionary.

Russia has no problem nuking cities unlike us.
