Russian rocket deliveries to Iran started--"...latest sign of a Russian-US rift over Iran."

Russia has begun deliveries of the Tor-M1 air defence rocket system to Iran, Russian news agencies quoted military industry sources as saying, in the latest sign of a Russian-US rift over Iran.

"Deliveries of the Tor-M1 have begun. The first systems have already been delivered to Tehran," ITAR-TASS quoted an unnamed, high-ranking source as saying Friday.

The United States has pressed Russia to halt military sales to Iran, which Washington accuses of harbouring secret plans to build a nuclear weapon.

Moscow has consistently defended its weapons trade with Iran. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov said the contract for 29 rocket systems, signed in December last year, was legitimate because the Tor-M1 has a purely defensive role.

ITAR-TASS reported that the rockets were to be deployed around Iran's nuclear sites, including the still incomplete, Russian-built atomic power station at Bushehr.

In August, Washington announced sanctions against several companies, including Russian arms exporter Rosoboronexport, for supplying technology to Iran that could allegedly be used to develop missile technology and weapons of mass destruction.

Under the sanctions no US company can deal with foreign companies on the sanctions list for two years.

A spokesman for Rosoboronexport contacted by AFP would not confirm or deny the reports about the Tor-M1 delivery, which were also issued by the Interfax news agency.

The Tor-M1 is a low to medium-altitude missile fired from a tracked vehicle against airplanes, helicopters and other airborne targets.

The news came as the UN Security Council continued to consider possible sanctions against Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile activity in response to the Islamic republic's suspect nuclear programme.

The major powers have been debating a draft resolution drawn up by Britain, France and Germany that would impose limited sanctions on Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile sectors for Tehran's failure to comply with an earlier UN resolution on halting enrichment.

China and Russia, both close economic partners with Iran, argue the measures are too extensive, while Washington has pressed for tougher action.

Ezekiel 3: 1 This is another message that came to me from the Lord: 2 “Son of man, turn and face Gog of the land of Magog, the prince who rules over the nations of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him. 3 Give him this message from the Sovereign Lord: Gog, I am your enemy! 4 I will turn you around and put hooks in your jaws to lead you out with your whole army—your horses and charioteers in full armor and a great horde armed with shields and swords. 5 Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya[a] will join you, too, with all their weapons.

According to my commentaries, Gog is a general name for a ruler. "Gog" is referred to the ruler of Magog, which is believed to be in present day Russia. The above passage is from the "New Living Translation," which I used here because it gives the modern names for the countries where known. As most of us know, Persia is the old name for Iran.

We are back to Peace thru strength.

You have given me a Paul Nitze moment. : - )

I didn't realize we needed to go back to it.

Defensive strength produces an atmoshpere for peace.

These things will be a pain, but they are certainly defeatable.

The S-300's are the problem. Those can take out cruise missiles and standoffs. They probably have a few already, and are secretly trying to get more, which Russia is denying of course.

Regarding that prophecy bit - stop pressing the fast forward button. Daniel and Revelation clearly have a steady progression of tribulations which take a long time. Daniel 8 and Rev 6 are talking about the same thing, and it's not a Russian invasion.

Besides, Russia has ZERO strategic interest in getting involved in Israel. They're content to profit from their arms deals, and enjoy access rights to those regional waters.

Russia can go fck itself collectively. We know who our friends are and who to ignore when the mooselim hoard devours them. I guess it is America and Israel against the savage cancer. We are the only ones with balls. Europe and Russia, you are on your own.

Funny, when I think of living in Australia I also remember that old movie "On the Beach." I suppose it could come to that.

You would like Joel Rosenberg's new book "Epicenter" that looks at world events through the eyes of politics, economics and scripture and predicts 10 headlines of the future. Russia, Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, Germany and Austria are the major countries identified in the coalition that will fight Israel. Before that there will be a huge oil find in Israel and peace and prosperity for a limited time. Iraq will also see a very prosperous time until the anti-christ rules Iraq after Radical Islam is destroyed in the war of Gog and Magog. The United States will essentially stand by and not directly aid Israel and given the weakening of the spine in this nation and the destructive influence of the liberal mindset that is not surprising.

I would highly recommend Epicenter by Joel Rosenberg.

"Besides, Russia has ZERO strategic interest in getting involved in Israel. They're content to profit from their arms deals, and enjoy access rights to those regional waters"

Actually Russia does have an interest in destroying Israel. Russia is slowly slipping back to the communist era as Putin has concentrated power and diminished freedom. He wants to re-create Russia's glory and expand the empire towards the south which is why they are arming Iran in planning to march towards Israel. By doing this they also buy off the radical Islamists in Russia.

If you look at internal events in Russia there is a startling diminished freedom and a return to the power of the Czarist era. Look for Putin to not step down in 2008 like he previously said he would.

Our enemies:

Global Terrorism
Iran
North Korea
China
Russia...
The U.S. Media
The rest of the worlds media

Our friends:

Great Britain
Israel
Australia
A few others

Populations against us:

Pretty much all of Europe
Pretty much all Muslim countries
Democrats (roughly 50%) of our own country

Why? Jealousy, Propaganda, Media, the desire to see a dynasty crushed (America).

The same reason people root against the Yankees, Microsoft, etc.

You didn't say a reason why they would INVADE Israel, because they have none at this time. There is a difference between selling arms to rivals and invading with your own military.

The latter allows you to gain economically and strategic access to more warm water ports (something Russia has ALWAYS sought after), WITHOUT overtly taking a side in a conflict.

The gamesmanship is coming to a head. Russia is not, I repeat, NOT OUR ALLY, and they are doing their best to destabilize the world.

The scene is being set for Ezekial 38 & 39. Anyone out there still think the Bible can't be true? I hope everyone is ready because our Maker is coming soon.

Russia has never been our friend nor will they ever be our friend. Russia and China have their own agenda against the US. I wish we'd quit kissing up to them.

Amen, Maneesh. I believe you are absolutely right. God will not let Isreal go up in a nuclear attack. I hope we stand by her but the Bible does say that ALL nations will forsake her.

Let's face it, satan comes as an angel of light and many will be deceived in the last days. Bush always tries to think the best of people. Sometimes he's wrong and so are we. I'm not pointing any fingers his way because three are pointing back at ME.

I wonder why more people don't see these events the same way as you or I do. As you said Russia and China have never been our friends.

I am also sure that when Russia and Iran launch their attack against Israel they will also be firing missiles at us as well. The United States will be through as a major power and will be a puppet to the one world order.
