America-hating Europe all talk, no action
Jewish World Review ^ | October 31, 2006 | Jonathan Gurwitz

Hypocrisy, thy name is Europe. Criticizing the United States is perfectly acceptable — in fact, Americans have raised political self-criticism to the level of an institutional art form. For goodness sake, the dictator of Venezuela — which won its independence from a European colonial power — went before the United Nations to commend a book by an American academic condemning Yankee imperialist domination.

If you're going to condemn the United States for all its failings, then, please, offer some meaningful alternative, some heightened vision, afforded by your long acquaintance with war, bigotry and its victims, along with your censure.

The arrogance of the Old World is, of course, nothing new. It required no particular bravery during the Cold War for European progressive types to march in opposition to various U.S. policies, exercising their civil liberties beneath the umbrella of American nuclear deterrence, while conspicuously avoiding any remonstrance of the Soviet Union and the military might that kept half the continent in communist bondage.

... and with substantial facts unknown to me.
Gee, how could that happen?

<< .... british foreign secretary Margaret Beckett was among a chorus of international critics.... demanding that Camp Delta be closed .... and given the opportunity to take custody of the former british residents residing at Guantanamo Bay, the british government said, "... no" and .... (its) position .... is that the men have no legal right to return (and that) it would cost too much to monitor the terror suspects — all 10 of them.

But really. If, as "lord" falconer, "secretary of state for constitutional affairs" and "lord chancellor," says, Guantanamo Bay is truly a "shocking affront" to the principles of democracy, then what price is too high to rescue your fellow britons? >>

And so it goes in since-then-only-groveling-ingrate-once-great-britain -- and throughout all of the rest of the dissolute dead and decadent Old Europeons' Neo-Soviet.

And, come to that, anywhere else (except in FRee Australia and FRee Israel) in the thanks-entirely-to-the-willing-sacrifice-of-American-Blood-and-American-Treasure, "free world."

Regarding the disposition of various detainees, e.g. the cited "Kunaz".

Not at all. My irony was aimed in the opposite direction. When I asked rhetorically, "Gee, how could that happen" I was alluding to the superficial news coverage of the MSM.

My apologies. I'm used to a "/s" tag to denote sarcasm. That and it's getting late here. ;)

The hypocrisy if not total worthlessness of Europe is nowhere better illustrated than with Darfur. Everybody is screaming for somebody to do something about the slaughter. Why they certainly wouldn't want the big, bad, nast U.S. to send troops there. We'd only go for the vast reserves of sand. So why don't all the leftist blowhards in Europe pull themselves away from their bongs or their mistresses and do something? Because they're too effete and corrupt to do anything but sanctimoniously bloviate.

European hatred of America is really a subset of its greatest hatred -- against Jews.

Most Europeans - especially the elites -- think Jews run America (I guess Pat Buchanan would fit in well among the Euro-Socialists). They think that they ZOG that runs America prevents this country from working with them in their primary goal -- the destruction of Israel and the eradication of every last Jew.

Well, America has treated Jews well, and became the most powerful nation since the Roman Empire. Europe exterminated its Jews, and is now a dying shell, soon to be (deservedly) enslaved by Islam.

Makes that biblical line about "He who blesses the Jews...." ring very true, doesn't it?

Thanks for assuming that the actions of the Labour party represent the feelings of the British people with complete accuracy.

From now on I shall assume that you agree with everything your Democrat government does and says. . . . .

The main problem in Europe stems from the single theme presented unrelentingly to Europeans by their media and most of their influentials: Americans suck, Americans are evil, Americans cause all disharmony in the world and damn Americans for being so rich and so arrogant. That pretty much sums up your typical news broadcast or magazine article in Europe and it keeps the focus away from local deficiencies. Given that kind of indoctrination from birth to death, coupled with the misery of advanced socialism and Europeans are pretty well confused. The same thing is now occurring here in our media, schools and politics. We're baby socialists, moving into adolescence. Imagine the world once we graduate!

The hatred of America and Jews, both here and abroad, is nothing more than the self hatred of pitiful people reflected outwards.

Unfortunately, the US will likely once again have to defend the Europeans against a fascism they let happen in their midst. This time it will be Islamic fascism not the Nazis.

I assume nothing. And, except perhaps by the definitive appeaser, Neville Chamberlain or by the duplicitous, lying, looting, thieving Clement Atlee, the once great now generally groveling british electorate has never been better represented that it as at present.

Meanwhile -- and here's reality rearing its ugly head again, America, since 1776 -- not that you're expected to have noticed yet -- is a Constitutional Republic, the oldest and longest surviving in Human history, doesn't have a parliamentary system and therefore has neither a "Republican" nor a "Democrat" government. Not, if it did, that we would be able to tell the difference between them.

Blessings - Brian

They all hate the U.S.A. until they need money, handouts, troops to firgt their wars, someone to bail them out or hold their hands in their times of need.

Next time, tell them to go call on france the worlds biggest blowhards.

Everybody is screaming for somebody to do something about the slaughter.

I have not heard any European screaming or even asking politely for something to be done in Darfur. I doubt the average person even knows where it is.
