Saudi Girl Sentenced to More Lashes Than Her Rapists ....(more on tolerence /Religion of PEACE!!)

AL-AWWAMIYA, Saudi Arabia (Nov. 21) - When the teenager went to the police a few months ago to report she was gang-raped by seven men, she never imagined the judge would punish her - and that she would be sentenced to more lashes than one of her alleged rapists received.

The story of the Girl of Qatif, as the alleged rape victim has been called by the media here, has triggered a rare debate about Saudi Arabia's legal system, in which judges have wide discretion in punishing a criminal, rules of evidence are shaky and sometimes no defense lawyers are present.

The result, critics say, are sentences left to the whim of judges. These include one in which a group of men got heavier sentences for harassing women than the men in the Girl of Qatif rape case or three men who were convicted of raping a boy. In another, a woman was ordered to divorce her husband against her will based on a demand by her relatives.

In the case of the Girl of Qatif, she was sentenced to 90 lashes for being alone in a car with a man to whom she was not married - a crime in this strictly segregated country - at the time that she was allegedly attacked and raped by a group of other men.

In the sleepy, Shiite village of al-Awwamiya on the outskirts of the eastern city of Qatif, the 19-year-old is struggling to forget the spring night that changed her life. Her hands tremble, her dark brown eyes are lifeless. Her sleep is interrupted by a replay of the events, which she describes in a barely audible whisper.

And then I got freepmail from an offended muslim with the screen neam Allah622 saying these were Saudi values, not muslim. He got banned fast but I hope he got my reply that I know one is barbaric and the other is mideval, but I get so confused because they are so similar. Anyone else get freep-mail by him?

There are so many ways for it to be "not rape" in muslim countries it's no wonder the rate is low.

All the excuses that a western man would love to use are OK under sharia law. She ain't muslim, she ain't a good enough muslim, she dressed for it, she asked for it, bla, bla, bla.

Libs are OK with that just as they are OK with Slavery in Africa.

After all, all cultures are equal. We just need to understand them and do what they want.

Welllllll....I'm not sure they don't want this. But it's not so simple as wanting such a terrible thing or not wanting it. The standard, idiot lib wants love and peace and freedom from responsibility for absolutely everything and equality and lots of trees and organic food growing from all the pesticide free fields and trees and electric cars, ad infinitum. Smarter libs take advantage of this to make money...the Jacksons, ACLU, Arts Endowments, Welfare, etc......but the real lib leaders want far more. They want America to fall so that they can remake it in, say, Stalin's image. They want anarchy and terror and death to reign in this country so that they can step in and take charge and "fix" things, and then these same "leaders" can live in the luxurious excess that they think they deserve. They want power, the kind of power that you can't have in a free nation. And they can't run for office on that, so you get "libs" who run on lies to the gullible.

If that weren't the case, how does one even begin to explain all the myriad of things liberals do to destabilize the nation. They side with muslim extremists because their common enemy is the true, patriotic American. America, as a nation in which one feels any patriotism, must be destroyed, and replaced with America the loathed. Patriotism and love of country are roadblocks to future communist dictatorships.

About 18 years ago I heard of a story involving the wife of an Army sergeant stationed to help run the military commissary in Saudi Arabia. Of mid-enlisted rank, he and his wife (who accompanied him) could not afford a brand-new automobile there so they bought an old delapidated Mercedes (many exist over there, I understand) and hired a driver to take his wife around to do the shopping as the women are not allowed to drive there. Naturally the old car broke down one day. When the car gave up the ghost, it was about 110 in the shade so, while the driver went for help, his wife took off the heavy clothes she was wearing and stripped down to her slip. Pretty soon a Saudi man came along, saw her and raped her. When the cops finally got the news they didn't even arrest the man, determining that she had "asked for it" and the Saudi court system backed them to the hilt. Our embassy did nothing in protest!

I think that they also think that islamofacists will just leave them alone because the libs helped in the fight against "Bush". Libs still feel a kindred spirit with the muslim extremists. If the latter were smart, they'd lie low so that the libs could overwhelmingly claim to have been correct on the subject and gain total control of the government for a couple of years. Then the mo-heads could smite us everywhere at once, from within and without, with near impunity. But I don't think they're that smart.

personally, i cannot wait for the liberal chicks in MA to receive their abbayas and orders to wear them... for cultural sensitivity. really.. i cannot wait for that. it would be a long while before i stop laughing once that comes to pass.

ps: i have friends of mine in MA that had not heard that he is a muslim, nor did they hear about the 'alla akbar' chant at his post election press conference. liberal press doing their white washing pretty well up there.

Trying to get into the head of a committed liberal is dangerous. However, here is my take: They neither want to win nor lose because they deny the reality of the WOT. They do not recognize the existence of evil. Rather, they hold the misguided belief that conflict results solely from misunderstanding, and that all people are inherently good. This core belief is the fundamental difference between "sincere libs" and right thinking people.

Just a side note on this, but this hits one of my pet peeves in reporting. After the verdict is read, the descriptor "alledged" should be dropped, but it often isn't.

If a Muslim woman is raped, it is assumed that she placed herself in a position of vulnerability and thus bears at least part of the blame.
