Something exploded in the distance, I can see fire in smoke.
What is your local radio or tv station and we'll see what they are reporting.
Calling for every ambulance in the area.
My prayers for any and all people who may've gotten hurt.

nothing on local TV (Ch 4, 5, 7, New England Cable News).
Nothing on WBZ radio at 3 am.
Salem powerplant is fine.
Explosion was to the north of Salem.

Right--I figured it was around where that propane place is
or possibly the big oil tanks nr Bev Salem Bridge (near the 99, etc.). The stacks of the Salem Coal plant (powerplant)
are that way too, but from the way it exploded I thought
natural gas...? propane?
where I am (nr Dane St Beach in Beverly) I can't see anything especially since a hill is in my way but I'm sure we'll
get more details.

probably was. I was on Rt 128 between the Rt 114 exit and
Endicott St. exit. If I had decided to go right onto Endicott
and then right again onto Water St., it would bring me there.
But for obvious reasons I steered clear of it!
I called WBZ radio, they confirmed they are sending reporters to investigate.

yes I was almost going to call them myself from cellphone but I only knew the number to try to get on air (254-1030) though I could have asked Steve Leveille's producer to talk to
someone in newsroom I guess)

minutes ago...several houses on fire and could be badly

satellite view). You can zoom in on the pic and see how many houses are in area.
Sounds series, it was a big explosion to take out some houses.
WBZ, someone reporting their windows got blown out.
