They plan to move at a European (or nowadays, even American) pace.

"international partners" - OK
"nations" - NO WAY

The EU is not now, and never will be a nation, whatever the eurostocracy aspires towards.

"..which aims at providing in several decades.."

Fusion research! Always in the sweet bye and bye.

Yes, CTNF has always been 50 years in the future, and always WILL be 50 years into the future. The only reason this boondoggle is still alive is Charles Vest, president Bush's science advisor. He's past pres of MIT, and one of the good-old-boys who OWN the DOE and its river of CTNF funding over these past decades. Instead of dumping Rumsfeld, GWB should have dumped Vest(of Vested interests), the DOE top management; and cleaned out the USPO as well. But, sigh, typical american response to a problem(energy independence) : throw money at it. Never mind that it's a stupid dog and pony show for technically incompetant lawyers, just THROW MONEY AT IT! And if WE don't have all that they are trying to milk us for, sucker in other countries as well...

I see your point. You need to get the information to Washington as soon as possible. Write it up quickly, use plenty of carbon paper so we can all get a copy and please do it quickly because the dispatch rider will be here soon.

But please do it very quickly. Those fools in DC want to spend money expanding something called "radio."

Best scam in the World, propose some grand scientific theory and claim that with enough government research grants you will solve some pressing need some time in the future. If you can't show real progress (demonstrable results not just more empty analysis) at predetermined milestones, then cut the funding.

Problem with that theory is that there have been Tokamak run for over one second, an eternity in particle physics.

And Tokamak produced exactly how much net energy? That's right it didn't. I'm a fan of He3 fusion, but if researchers can't actually show results, they are no better than anyone else in the government of wasting our tax dollars.

Sarcasm doesn't cut it. CTNF is nothing more than a pied piper scam, always has been, going on for some 60 years now. It's like the utopian promises of communism in the former USSR, just keep believing and GLORY will get here, in some distant age. Finally, even the dumb russian peasant woke up to the SCAM that it was, and with Reagan's/solidarity's help, threw the bums(dead souls)out. And yet these bozo LAWYERS in congress are even dumber than russian peasants, totally un-disciplined when it comes to p***ing away other people's money on this ITER/CTNF scam. Alternate energy may be the starved runt in the energy picture but therein lies our only hope for energy independence.

The plan is to generate enough paperwork to fuel a treaty burning furnace that'll power the world for the next 100 years.

You have yet to develop that "nose" to sniff out socialist scams. The USSR : ultimate utopia, while we bleed you white, taking everything of value from you and giving you the sorry civilian economy of pre-1989; thus the "they pretend to pay us, and we pretend to work" syndrome. CTNF is the same kind of scam : ultimate energy from hydrogen fusion, while bleeding the physics budget white, and all the OTHER alternate energy possibilities being ignored. No, they'll never make it past the Lawrence Coefficient(output > input), ITER is just another flim-flam man-scam. The Pied Piper....P.T. Barnum : my boy, there's a SUCKER born every minute...
