Maybe he was X'ed. Maybe Howard Stern gave him some advice.

When you are that closely identified with a particular character, Kramer, in this case, your career is pretty much over when the series ends. For example, after Mayberry, it was impossible for Don Knotts to be anyone but Barney Fife - all his later roles were simply variations on the Fife theme. And Jerry Stiller, in that show he's in now (I forget the name) is still basically playing the same character he played as Frank Costanza. But Richards has all the money he'll ever need, so I don't feel sorry for him.
