Yeah, well, you know girls can call each other b*tch*s but guys don't go there. Exactly. Or I can talk about my mother, sister, etc., make fun of them, myself, or call myself ugly, but you'd better not.
To: 4yearlurker
It also could be that the two hecklers in the front row were planted there and part of the act. Ala Andy Kaufman style.
Nah, that's more Kenny Bana's style.

His career was already over. Lucky for him he and the next 20 generations of his family will live off of seinfeld syndication revenues.

It's nice to know that some here are always ready to defend hate. How much criticism did Rev. Jackson get from the black community for calling New York Hymietown? Do you find that more or less offensive than the garbage that Kramer was spewing?
To: torchthemummy
If I went to the local grocery store and used those words, I would most likely be charged with a hate crime? Why is Richards free to use them?
To: torchthemummy
Cracker refers to rural Southerners in FLA/GA, and the interesting character called the FLA cowmen. Most folks in the South laugh it off or accept it as a friendly description. Part of the Southern culture is humor and colorful tales - folks not from the South do not understand the use of Cracker.
To: Ajnin
I read the comments and was amazed at the abject pansies commenting on how disgusting and racist his comments were. One even said we should take our racist tirade back to Free Republic.

Apparently, somewhat forgot to tell Michael Richards that only Chris Rock, Richard Prior, and Robert Byrd are allowed to use the "N" word in a comedy routine.I think at the point where the video picks up, it had ceased being a comedy routine.
To: arthurus
"I am a southern citizen and the only people I have ever known to take offense at "cracker" are blueblood women who turn up their noses, not at the word but at the person using the word because of his obvious lack of breeding."
Again I will defer to a Freeper's personal experience.
That being said I know what the word has come to mean and it has a racist conatation pure and simple. The origin of the word is irrelevant - the intention by its use is clear and offensive.

He didn't assault anyone. But the hypocrisy of it's verbal use is agreed and noted.

I suspect that he's not actually racist. I think he was desperate to get under the skin (no pun intended) of the guys that were pissing him off, and he made an incredibly stupid choice as to how to do it. I also think he was lamely trying to conjure the spirit of Lenny Bruce as he did it.
There's no defense for it, but that's my impression.

I should have said...
He didn't physically assault anyone. But the hypocrisy of it's verbal use is agreed and noted.

I think at the point where the video picks up, it had ceased being a comedy routine.I agree, and I feel the same way when guys like Rock, Pryor, Chippel, and Byrd throw around the "N" word. Its not comedy, its not funny, and there is always a double standard.
To: kenth
Re: Use of the N word by blacks: >>>>>>>>>It's an attempt to change the meaning and take ownership of the word. It's working, as some people lament that they aren't allowed to say it when its intended targets are.<<<<<<<<<<
How would that explain the other derogatory terms, "bi#ch" and "ho" being used regularly to describe black women by other blacks in their music and "comedy" routines/movies?
