I'm giving you a post-flu weakened cheer aloud here, but inside I am shouting HURRAH, HURRAH for Fishtalk.

What a great report. And how terrific that the other attendees were spurred on to speak out.

Congratulations. Don't let them co-opt you by giving you some title so that they can ignore you in the future.

Snugs, what is the "Blue Rinse Brigade" doing about Cameron's "me-too-ism-only-moreso"?

I'm following your elections in the Mail.

Thank you, Fishtalk for standing up and speaking out.

The DBM won't let voters forget Newt's little hissy fit when Clinton made him get off the back of Air Force 1.

Either the purists give on something -Newt's divorces, Rudy on abortion, sanity in the case of McCain- or it's bye-bye Presidency. I'm open to suggestions.

Amen, brother. There are no unblemished people, not to mention politicians. Romney comes as close as any as far as I know, but he's got the LDS issue. That could and should be nullified, unless his opponents want to call themselves religious bigots. Romney will prove himself head and shoulders above the rest. Bet on it.

Tommy Thompson is exploring; I think we need a general. Franks?

I heard the usual lineup of hacks and opportunists- Koppel, Kerry, Webb etc.- today and thought to myself here we go again: "What's wrong in Iraq", "Who will save the working man/woman?", "I have a plan" etc.. But somehow Newt's appraisal of the Pub's political positions seemed the only thing to scour with me today. And I have not been overly supportive of a Gingrich candidacy.

I guess even the crocodilic Kristol struck a nerve with his "I wonder if the Republicans know how significant their Nov. 7th losses were?" I am sympathetic to the call for "Conservatives to run as Conservatives" and so on; but the heart of the matter is the tremendous division that weak leadership has created on the Right. I can certainly blame Hagel, Graham, McCain etc...but that won't erase the fact that we are in dire need of great leaders, our message's great strength notwithstanding.

Perhaps an outsider is the only answer. Or a genuine military hero could work- Duncan Hunter who is no outsider has good credentials. Thompson, also an insider, operated in a difficult political environment as a governor. Whatever, I think that this topic, of leadership, deserves as much discussion as any in the light of Nov. 7th past.

All those dems candidates that ran on conservative issues knew all along they would not buck the Dems when it comes to voting

Which is why we didn't see the loons protesting them during the election.

That is what the loons assumed and is also the conventional wisdom in the halls of Washington and within the DBM.  But what if a few of them aren't that dishonest?  What if a few of them are really Reagan Democrats?  Shuler in North Carolina, for one, may really be someone we can work with and accept.  What if there are more?  Lieberman makes the Senate a really volatile arena the next two years.  I actually think we have more to worry about with RINOs than some of the Blue Dogs.  Newt talked about this on FNS today and it really was intriguing.

And it's our job to catalog what those Dhimmicrats said in this campaign and hold them accountable in '08.  Make sure you write down as much as you can find about those political promises from the campaign, both by the Dhimmicrats and the Republicans, and lets keep that information handy for when needed over the next two years.

A few of us are working on an idea to set up a web page where we can collect those promises and quotes for future reference.  In the meantime we all need to find the web sites and news reports with issues statements, position papers and quotes and capture them before they disappear down the memory hole.  Any information is to be preserved, but I would encourage people to concentrate on the folks from their state.  If we get something going we'll call for contributions.  If we don't we'll still have the folks here at FR who have gathered their own stuff to draw on, as needed.

We can do this.

A lot of them similar to me being pragmatic if he gets us elected next time more power to his elbow we may not agree with his position on certain things but it is proving effective certain with the polls.

At the end of the day you can do nothing out of power when in you can then change things. I suspect a Cameron Prime Minister will be a very different Cameron to that of a Cameron leader of the Opposition. He will have to appeal more to the backbenchers and as you say blue rinse bridge when in power.

Furthermore in Britain as I suspect many areas in the US ultra right wing Conservative views will not get you elected the sheeple want more moderate centre politics and this is where Cameron is aiming at the so called "New Labour voters".

re: Romney's Mormonism. Don't the stone throwers expose themselves as religious bigots. Many won't vote for him because he's an R, but the Indy's may. He was elected in a highly liberal state. He's probably quite strong in New Hampshire and the NorthEast in general.

After New Hampshire, Iowa and Nevada(likely) He's built an organizaion in Iowa, and there's pretty strong LDS memberhsip in Nevada. Mitt could come out of the early primaries roaring !

Jessica Gaulke, Miss Minnesota, will resign her post after she makes a Rose Bowl appearance Ina few weeks. More money? Other opportunities? Going back to college? Getting married, she sure is pretty enough, hardly. Jessica will be joining her unit in Iraq.

Because, you see she is a diesel mechanic in a reserve unit that was called to duty and will leave for Iraq soon.

Here is her comment on being taken away from a life that the average girl would die for.

"I'll be there for all of us over here"

Someone needs to tell FoxNews or Glen Beck...

First of all...I want to thank you very much for your running reporting about what was on the shows...I didn't get to see them..as usual.

Second...I have a feeling McCain may be "stung" a bit by the positive press that Abizaid has gotten since that Armed Forces Committee hearing...

Even through the fog of the liberal MSM...I got the message that Abizaid pretty much smacked down his two main detractors (in the MSM opinion), Hillary and McCain (coincidence, I think not)...

All in all...I think that hearing was a very GOOD one for our side....and looky hear, McCain is going to take his toys and go home...if they don't take HIS advice...wah, wah, wah.

Not asking the republicans how he can help them win back the congress and senate.

Yeah, it's strange how the MSM doesn't do a lot of hang wringing about how to get the Pubbies back in power...
