I totally agree, and I am not sure what we can do to change the ad people's tone deafness or the blind, reactionary thinking of the Conservative Base. Somehow the Base has to be made to understand that half a loaf is better than no loaf. I wonder how many of the People that did not show up to vote like having Pelosi as Speaker and Barney Frank, and other Gay Marriage proponents in charge? They were warned, and they did not heed the warning, now it is tough toenails for them, and I do not want to hear their whining. In the case of Mark Foley, they played right into the Rat Game Plan. Mahomely's people were push polling about Foley a year before the election, and they knew what the Conservative base would do, if his name was left on the ballot. They were played like a fiddle.

He will spin it that it leaves him free to run for President if he so wishes knowing of course that it is highly unlikely to as many Americans will remember the so called GWB joke that came out against the troops.

The dems constantly create new ways of lying about the issues that carry them, taxing the rich, welfare for all, cradle to grave govt., saving socha security(destroying is more like it) and all the rest of their tired claims.
Only a fool believes a lie more than a half dozen times.

It plays well in Peoria. The first thing the next Congress will do is to raise the federal minimum wage, a relatively meaningless act since many states and the marketplace are paying more than what is proposed. However, it will be trumpeted by the Dems as another example of their support for the little guy.

Just imagine if we got on the ball over here and did stuff like that.

I hear you RG.

To me, drilling in ANWR is something MOST American people would agree with, never mind the Lamestream and the enviro-nuts. I myself am a member of the National Wildlife Federation and am a certified Backyard Habitat Specialist. I actually go to people's houses and advise them on how to make their own home eco-system more friendly to birds and wildlife. Hey, I LOVE birds and wildlife and here I am a Republican!

I know that drilling for oil on that tundra in the arctic won't hurt a hair on a head of a caribou or other species and you'll have to take my word on this, but if I thought one of God's precious creatures would be harmed I'd think very differently. God's critters are very adaptable and if the NWF espouses creating an environment where humans and critters can live in harmony, then why the hell can't Republicans?

This is a perfect example where the GOP falls down on the job. A good campaign to reach Americans about this matter would work and soon enough it would be a turning point for congress critters who keep voting mindlessly against ANWR drilling.

Our futures, our grandchildren's futures, are being sold down the tubes for campaign donations and don't tell me not.

In CO, with no Republican running against Denver's Democrat Diana DeGette, many voted for the Green Party candidate. If anyone looks, it will seem CO is turning greener. Not true, but Republicans could not vote for DeGette and that was the only option.

We have to get away from choosing moderate Republicans, who we think can lean to the right and go for conservative Republicans who can lean to the middle occasionally.

Here is what I think, based on MTP today. The MSM was frustrated that the dems could not win elections so they jumped in with both feet, stopped being the least bit subtle and became an all out propaganda arm...and it worked. They are really feeling their oats. Their next goal is to run our foreign policy, at least as it relates to Iraq and Iran. I believe they think they can accomplish this.

And Koppel pooh-poohs all the "Death to America" ravings simply as those gentle peace-loving Iranians just going through the motions. They don't really mean it, it's just a half-hearted gesture. The MSM has been totally hoodwinked by Amadmaninjihad's warm an cuddly facade which he puts out for Western consumption. Sickening to watch the American media eating out of this a-hole's hand, while he plans for nuclear annihilation of Israel.

Great point!!! Which is exactly why we have to keep exposing these Blue Dog Democrats when they stray from the promises they made to get elected.

Talking of left wing publications I loved GWB answer to a stupid press question in Vietnam.

Q You mentioned troop postures in Iraq. There's a report that you may want to send 30,000 additional troops to Iraq. Is that something --

PRESIDENT BUSH: Where was that report?

Q In the Guardian newspaper.

PRESIDENT BUSH: Guardian newspaper? Well, I don't read that paper often. But I -- look, I'm going to listen to our commanders, Steve. Ours is a condition-based strategy, and Pete Pace is conducting a thorough study -- he's the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. John Abizaid has got some ideas, and the Baker-Hamilton commission is looking. I want to hear from Democrats on Capitol Hill what their views may be. I want to hear from my fellow Republicans on Capitol Hill. And then I'll make up my mind. So I'm not aware of the Guardian article.

Nice one Mr President neither do I read the Guardian that often and I am from Britain.

See post 120. My hopes have already been dashed, and retracted. They were based on long distance media reports of the campaign. I should've known the media would distort it.

Thanks chiller--you have to be persistent.
In our case here, we have to counter all the bad naysayers, and we are and we will.

snugs, Kerry can spin all he wants to. There are too many ex-veterans who know the truth and know Kerry was not telling a joke. The man, and I use that term loosely, is still a disgrace. If he runs again, the vets will be coming out of the woodwork to defeat him.

The crazies and ethically challenged Rats will be out there for all to see, and the DBM will be very scared that the Rats will only have two years and then will lose Power again.

What it means is that the DBM will have to play the same game the next two years as they played during the campaign, where they distracted people from recognizing that the Dims had no plans, no ideas and no vision of the future beyond cut and run from Iraq, by playing up the problems with the Republicans.

I honestly believe that a big part of the reason that the NYT and the rest of the media gave Nancy Pelosi such a spanking over the past week is that they wanted to send her a signal that while it was okay for her to engage in the post-election happy-talk about "bipartisanship", she'd better not go too far with it by doing things like taking impeachment off the table and holding back all the investigations they were planning on doing during the campaign. Murtha's ethics and her involvement in trying to get him elected Majority Leader were just a convenient excuse for the media to pile onto her and give her their little message.

The media knows that it needs that non-stop stream of investigations, subpoenas and GOP-hating witnesses to parade before their cameras to have a prayer of keeping their people in power, because it gives them an excuse to not notice all the ethical warts their own team has. Plus, they want President Bush impeached, and then sent to the Hague to be convicted of war crimes.
