"Compare and contrast the news from Mississippi, which was hit equally hard;"

MS was hit the hardest.

They're all whining. Noone held a gun to their heads and told them to live in a disease-infested swamp. It took a terrible flood to dislodge them, and now they wanna go back and expect taxpayers to pay for their stupidity. Sheesh.

It's the "world owes me" mentality.

Let's see.....

We're supposed to walk away from Iraq before the country is stabilized...yet we're supposed to continue providing assistance to katrina-scum indefinitely?

I bet Hillery is a big hit with these musher's.
I'm 63 and the government has never provided me with free transportation. I have never heard of such arrogance in my life, what is with these people?

What these people need is a dose of reality, get off their lazy as*** and find work.
The people of Miss. Ala. have shown the world what real Americans are.

Maybe if another hurricane hits La. it will stay under water where nature intended it to.

Our government leaders are the cause of this type of mentality of the people of La. Anything for a vote off the backs of hard working Americans.

What would have happened to these people if they were born 100 years ago?

They obviously cannot care for themselves.

Why can't the residents get jobs and support "those babies"? Everybody else does. Keep the bus service but make them pay for it.

Actually, it has turned out that LA budget has quite a surplus ($827 mil) this year - let that nanny state take care of it's own for a change - leave the Feds out of it.

The standard is a 3/4 mile (15 minute) walk generally.
