Everyone Is Entitled To My Opinion (from David Brinkley when liberals were human)

David Brinkley wrote this little book years ago. My wife and I found it at a flea market (wouldn't you know it) years ago.
Fifty cents was just enought to bring home a gentle and courteous man's words of wit and journalistic acumen.
As the Liberty Journal wrote of his manner, "with his near rapier-thrust of amiable malice ............ many pieces of armor are pierced. "Everyone Is Entitled to My Opinion will pleasantly beguile."
As Booklist commented on David's book, "It captures an urbane newsman's sense of the absurd in politics and in daily life."
And from the San. Francisco Chronicle, "A gem....... Provides a nostalgic look at the famous curmudgeonly sweetheart of TV news and a reminder that good reporting sometimes comes packaged in the small ironies of life."

Everyone Is Entitled To My Opinion

You are on no list, but you will never be pinged again.
Just thought you might want to know about a civil and decent "liberal" from years back, seeing that I think some of our own conservative commentators are sometimes low-level, sanctimonipus slugs.
Have a nice weekend.

David earned my respect when he said after the 1996 election results: "[Clinton] has not a creative bone in his body. Therefore, he's a bore and will always be a bore. Therefore we have to look forward to four years of wonderful, inspiring speeches full of wit, poetry, music, love and affection. More goddamn nonsense." After that brilliant comment of David's it's somewhat surprising that he lived all the way until 2003 instead of ending up on The Body Count List.

I'm getting lost in pings. I often ask to be taken off various ping lists for that reason alone. No need to be snippy. geez

Think again.

Don't let the Levinistas get you down, sea. They're quick to judge someone who's more conservative in principle than the so-called conservatives they constantly fawn over. Thanks for the ping, FRiend.

My how superior we are. Superior? Hardly. It's an observation of others, not of myself. Judging from this thread alone, especially since I never lurk your Levin thread, you need to grow a spine and quit being so oversensitive. Well I'd better quit while I'm ahead, or else you'll have me permanently banned like you did with butternut_squash_bisque.

Well, how odd. You don't lurk on the Levin show thread, however you certainly presume to know a lot about the Levin fans. Trust me, you don't know one thing about me and that won't change. Bank on it.
Get you banned? ROFL, I can only wish I had that kind of power. Most (though not all) of you in wienerworld post your own vile stuff all over FR, and those who do, don't need anyone else to get them banned. You're delusional, to put it as kindly as possible.
