The rumors that chief White House political architect Karl Rove will leave sometime next year are being bolstered with new insider reports that his partisan style is a hurdle to President Bush's new push for bipartisanship. A key Bush advisor tells the US News Political Bulletin, "Karl represents the old style and he's got to go if the Democrats are going to believe Bush's talk of getting along." The advisor said a departure might come in "weeks, not months." A Rove ally, however, noted that he has a record of out-witting his critics.
I'd say some of W's policys have been a disaster. Not sure that Rove is responsible for them.
Really?! When did Ms. Miers get sworn in? I must have missed that.
Oh sure they did [have a SC plan], Roberts and Miers.which would have made the point clearer.
Which I guess I'll have to spell out probably for some here - the idea that Miers is preferrable to Alito is ludicrous. There was no plan. The President simply didn't care enough.
If only his open-border-free-for-all would go with him.
This has everything to do with the old weak republicans coming back on line.
They WANT republicans to be a minority set.
Has anyone seen the members of the Iraq Survey Group? (who appointed them anyways)
It is all RINOS and x41 and x42 people.
The fact Sandra Day Occonor is on there speaks volumes for the level of incompetence that permiates that group.
I know, my heart is broken. It just amazes me that people didn't think this is exactly what would happen.
Hmmm more unnamed sources
He may be going with Guiliani...I saw a blurb somewhere today...that was about him picking up some advisors from Texas...
What did you want him to say? We were going to lose thirty seats?
Sheesh....
He doesn't have to, unless you consider Roberts and Alito stealth cadidates.
"Can't we just get along?" That is so tiring and totally unworkable it makes me ill! Rove should stay and continue the battle. What did the RATs ever do to "get along?" Nada!
Among the possible explanations you list for a rumored departure of Karl Rove as the White House political advisor, I'd be willing to bet my life that #4 is NOT the reason.
President Bush is a smart man and a keen judge of personal character. Karl Rove is still the most competent and clever political advisor on the American scene today. A good executive never grows tired of a brilliant and loyal employee. He does whatever is necessary to maneuver top performers into jobs where their skills are best utilized.
If Rove is indeed making a move, I pity his next opponent.
Stupid is as stupid does. The RATS hate Rove. Unless he has been molesting horses he should remain.
This election I voted R on my ballot for the one substantial race because the candiate was a fire breathing conservative (He still lost).
But, if he had been a CINO I would not have voted for him. All I heard this election from GOPbots was the fearmongering "If you don't vote R then it's gonna be pelosi, Murtha, etc, Hillary in '08". Sorry, that doesn't cut it. Run a solid platform with solid, identifiable goals that are evident, not hidden and you'll get my vote. To tell me if I don't then we're going to hell is your problem, not mine. I lived through 8 years of Clinton just fine and I'll see to it that I live through the next years just as well.
From now on I'll vote for only for conservative candidates, and refuse to support any GOP conservative pretenders.
She didn't. She had the President withdraw her nomination to avoid being embarrased in the hearings. All part of the plan no doubt.
Maybe it was even part of the same plan where the President said before the election Rumsfeld was to stay but then had him resign after. Or maybe that was in the plan where the Preseident signed CFR so the Dem 527s would to outspend the Rs. So many good plans, hard to keep them straight.
Excellent post! I think you nailed it.
--It would be good for Rove to leave though.
One less target in the administration--
is Cheney next?
Without the balance Karen Hughes, Rove has not been an asset to the Whitehouse. I say its time for him to be replaced.
Here. Read this. You'll feel better. Sometimes we need a reminder as to what we've accomplished even while hamstrung and rolling a boulder up a steep hill. :)
