Bush's interpretation of the Democrats' victory in last week's Congressional elections convinced him not to act against Iran. Starting with his press conference last Wednesday where he announced Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld's replacement by Robert Gates, Bush has made absolutely clear that as far as he's concerned, he lacks the domestic political strength to carry out a successful operation.

In one of his recent daily calls for Israel's destruction, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad offered Europe a Faustian bargain. He promised to leave Europe alone if the Europeans abandon Israel. On Monday, British Prime Minister Tony Blair accepted his offer. In a speech at the London Lord Mayor's annual banquet, Blair explained that success in Iraq and in Iran is contingent on Israel making concessions to Palestinian and Lebanese terrorists and to the US and Europe making concessions to Syria and Iran. The fact that Blair made this speech four days after the director general of the MI5, Eliza Manningham-Buller, said that today 30 terror plots are being planned in Britain; that future threats could involve chemicals and nuclear devices; that young British Muslims are being groomed to become suicide bombers; and that her agents are tracking some 1,600 suspects, tells us just about everything we need to know about Europe's interests. The fact that he made a similar statement to the Iraq Study Group, which, led by former secretary of state James Baker III is planning on recommending that the US sell out Israel and appease the Iranians and Syrians, tells us everything we need to know about how Europe feels about the US hope to isolate - not attack - Iran.

Yes there's truth in that image of Europe in all that especially regarding the sterotypical personalities that are usually in art films, but don't all art films the world over show the same thing for all societies? They don't show many uplifting indie films in the east village, tokyo or buenos aires i would imagine either.

Side comment: Just the other day (and this is a topic for another long thread) i was asking my wife how the whole west coast USA spaced out, vegitarian, spiritual, ultraPC leftist developed - i was contrasting this with the true old school Euro leftist (like the guy in france who drives tractors through McDonald's windows). The two personalities don't mix though goofballs from Seattle and POrtland think Europe is just like home...anyway i'm getting sidetracked. I think the whole world is sort of in a slump in terms of motivation, innovation, morals etc...at least the younger generation. sad.

Unless Spain gets a new government, fast, the Muzzies will take it over, probably faster than any other EU country. There are some people in the other countries who are resisting because Islam has been a problem for them for a longer time, but not in Spain, where the left luvs the Islamics.
I do not think that muslims will ever take over Spain I also disagree that they are more empowered or considered more important than they were under the PP. Maybe there's some ruling by some leftist judge about something in a public school somewhere, but there are rulings like that all over the world.

My trip around Europe this year was shocking to me in that I expected far more from Europe. What I saw was an old culture that created magnificant structures being lived in by a culture that had no identity in itself and has no dreams beyond todays gratification. The facade is old, the buildings worn and not well maintained, and head scarves everywhere on Islamics.

Europe seemed more like a third world country than I expected, and Muslims were everywhere in great numbers. In Austria, where the air reeks of pride and predudice, Arabic grafitti is on the walls along with the rest of the hate the world stuff.

It is like Muslims are ignored, a problem to great to face. This situation is explosive, a people with no identity in the face of multi-culturalism that embrace liberalism and peace at any cost, with an invasion force of a people that have an Iron tight view of their place as the destroyer to come.

Tired? No, braced on the edge of a death bed, sipping a glass of wine with the executioner.

I felt the same way when I walked down Allenby St to work each morning and all the whores and junkies were out as the sun rose, and in Jerusalem in the russian quarter where all the flamboyant homosexuals gathered (at least that's how it was back in the early 90s when I lived there). Anyway, I don't disagree that Europe is generally lazy, unmotivated, losing its religious heritage, hedonistic and all that....I think it's been a problem for a long long time. I just think all this "the arabs have conquered Europe" talk is nonsense. Socialism is a much bigger threat to me than arabs taking the country over. Maybe I have my head in the sand, but all of my friends, family and associates with similar or more extreme conservative views don't live in fear of the arabs -- while we do complain about immigration and its related problems. As i have pointed out in other posts to this thread... I see more people in traditional arabic dress in Manhattan or Newark yet I don't think that the USA is being over run.
