WASHINGTON -- When the Democrats were campaigning to take over Congress, they benefited from a tidal wave of political anger aimed at the Republicans who had been in charge for the past 12 years.
But as the Democrats prepare to take control of the House and Senate, it is their legislative proposals that are in the spotlight, drawing much closer critical scrutiny than they received in this year's election. As one top GOP political strategist told me, "They are the ones who are in trouble now." The Democrats won't assume power until January, but their proposals to pull out of Iraq, slap a higher minimum wage on small businesses and raise taxes, including the tax on dividends and capital gains, are already taking hits.

Raising taxes, surrendering to terrorists, and pursuing infanticide isn't a real popular platform.
In 08, the Democrats are going to have a record to defend.
let's hope, for America's sake, the blue dogs go with W
Oh I don't know. It got them elected.
...but the average American will never know about it.
The MSM will keep the lid on this stuff.
Counterintuitive as it might seem, having the Democrats in control of the House and Senate might prove to be to conservatives benefit. Precisely because of the scrutiny that it will foster amongst conservatives.
For example, how many amongst us even know who the outgoing Republican chairman of the House Ways and Means committee is? I had to look it up online. But I'll bet the vast majority know that Charlie Rangel is the new chairman. Given that the committee has a significant impact on tax policy (read: how much you're going to pay), it's good to know what these folks are up to. For another example, notice how the leadership battle in the House was followed by conservatives.
Unfortunately, when the GOP is in power, conservatives have tend to assume that everything is OK when it turns out that it really isn't.
Don't forget pushing the homosexual agenda. Remember where Pelousi if from.
If we have an economic slowdown over the next two years, the Dems are to blame.
"The Democrats' campaign mantra that it's time for a change apparently appealed to a lot of dissatisfied Americans. But once these voters learn the fine print in the Democrats' plans, many may begin to think this wasn't the change they had in mind."
Reminds me of a conversation in '93 with a government defense worker. This person was really upset with Clinton's cuts in federal pay increases. I asked her why she voted for Clinton and she answered that she 'wanted change'. Well, I said, looks like you got what you asked for. She replied that she would never make that mistake again.
The voters may finally get the picture if Pelosi manages to borrow Joe Stalin's remains for permanent display in the Rotunda. Short of that, the MSM will probably be able to cover for her.
Bump for the Wiz.
" ++ I think the main reason they are so unorganized, confused and disorientated is because they didn't really think they would win in 2006. ++ "
They didn't win - the 'pubs LOST.
The GOP needs to start right now to get it's message out that a 40% increase in the minimum wage is not going to be good for the economy.
These sick SOB voters didn't learn the *read my lips, no new taxes* change for change's sake lesson that brought the clinton disaster. I'm just p*ssed that ALL of us have to pay the price of ignorance and blindness. The next two years, at best, will be a complete waste of valuable time, and at worst, at nightmare of epic proportion. And although I have spent years lambasting the fear-mongers, Doom and Gloom seem like very possible scenarios.
I agree with you but the Repub have only kissed up to the media. We all know that msm/dnc will hide most things negative.
