CALL HER 'NANCY SHREW'? (Pelosi caricature of shrill, petty woman boss)
NY POST ^ | November 17, 2006 | DEBORAH ORIN-EILBECK

Forget "The Devil Wears Prada---the hot show in Washington is "The Shrew Adores Armani." In just a few short days, House Speaker-to-be Nancy Pelosi has turned into a caricature of the shrill, petty woman boss. Armani-loving Pelosi demanded, in heavy-handed diva fashion, that House Democrats back her ethics-challenged antiwar crony, Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.), as her chief deputy - acting as if she's the queen whose word must be law. But it all blew up in her face; Murtha lost 149-86 to Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), a onetime Pelosi rival whom she wants to keep squashed down......Pelosi's first move as House leader left her a big-time loser.

"She messed this up so badly, it's breathtaking. It raises real concerns about whether she can separate her personal issues from the issues of the Democratic caucus," says a veteran Democratic strategist. "It's not just the heavy-handedness, it's the clumsiness. There can be a stereotype of a woman as petty and personal - and she's now at real risk of creating that image for herself. She's reawakened all the old doubts about whether she is ideologically too liberal for this job, and added new ones as well."

The stereotype of the woman boss as a self-centered witch on wheels who'll run over anyone in her path has plenty of roots in American culture.........so if "Nancy Shrew" becomes the image of the highest-ranking woman ever in American politics - Pelosi will be second in line of succession to the presidency - it'll be a problem for all women politicos, including 2008 prospect Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.....

Pelosi's pushing pal Murtha forced The NY Times to belatedly acknowledge that the "culture of corruption" is bipartisan - not just a Republican evil, as Times news stories and editorials kept suggesting until the election.

Karla Marx has always been a loser. With all that money, btw, you would think she'd pay her wine folks a decent wage, since she won the Cesar Chavez award from the United Farmworkers Union in 2003.

Pelosi intensely dislikes fellow California Democrat Rep. Jane Harman, and has decided to block Harman from becoming chairwoman of the House Intelligence Committee. The origins of the Pelosi-Harman feud are murky - "It's almost like two teenage girls in the bathroom with one telling the other, 'You're not cool enough to be in my club,' " says one Democrat. Some see it as the natural rivalry of two wealthy and ambitious California women.

Pelosi Galore is just pissed because Jane's lifts and tucks worked a little better.

The key word there is "after."

I have had several female bosses over the years. There was only one who was like Pelosi - but the similarity is striking.

She even looked like Pelosi.

She was petty, vindictive, mean, and a liar. My wife would like to add "and a bitch."

I have had an experience or two with petty mean vicious women bosses. When they get down on someone they are unfit for the business world. The woman boss I have now is extraordinarily competent.

Some of the guy bosses I have had, have not been the best either. Men just display their traits differently than women.

Heheh----maybe Harman can exchange the name of her plastic surgeon for a better committee assignment.

BTW, I believe Nancy's sitting on Jane b/c Harman is under federal investigation for allegedly being in bed with AIPAC, talking pillow talk, while Harman was on the intelligence committee. Jane didn't understand that undermining US national security is not a perk of the job......maybe her plastic surgeon mistakenly tucked Jane's neck wattle into her brain cavity.

Here is a little info from the L.A. Times (of all people) from 2002:

http://www.laweekly.com/news/news/pelosis-problems/3412/

Pelosi went ballistic a few years ago when the head of the AFL-CIO's Committee on Political Education (COPE), in opposing her bid to chair the national Democrats, referred to her as an "airhead." But, says a senior liberal Democratic strategist today, "Pelosi is simply not very articulate. She tends to talk too much — like many people who have limited confidence in their intelligence and tend to make up in verbosity what they lack in veracity."

****

"airhead" -- who knew?

A face frozen in time---

Frozen in loot:

Pelosi, who is married to investor Paul Pelosi, has amassed a large portfolio of jointly owned real estate, including three properties in the Napa Valley. They sold an 8-acre vineyard on Skellenger Lane in Rutherford last year for $1 million to $5 million, according to her disclosure form.

Paul Pelosi's holdings include a four-story commercial building on Belden Place in San Francisco, a retail and office building on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard in San Anselmo and an ownership stake in the Auberge du Soleil resort in Napa Valley valued at $1 million to $5 million. He also has millions of dollars of shares in publicly traded companies such as Microsoft, Amazon. com and AT&T.

The couple estimated their total assets to be worth $25 million to $102 million last year, with liabilities of $6 million to $31 million. Assets are reported in broad ranges on the disclosure forms, making it difficult to determine a lawmaker's exact net worth.

"The couple estimated their total assets to be worth $25 million to $102 million last year" -- that's quite an estimate.

That is very true. Sometimes I start a little fuss/fight with another FReeper/male just so we can get it over with then be friends. Most of the time it works.

I am always amazed at the size of fortunes in this country. My husband and I apparently chose the wrong fields of work years ago. LOL!

I did, however, roll the coins I glean from change left in pockets when I do the laundry, and deposited $27 in the savings account yesterday! I thought that was pretty neat!

A male boss who is pushy is agressive.
A female boss who is pushy is a bitch.

Problem with many female bosses is that they still can retreat into that "fragile woman" when confronted.

I knew some great female managers. They would be the ones who came out with us on Friday night, got drunk, ate hot wings with us and on Monday would give us our assignments and ask if we had a good weekend.
