British intelligence officials believe that al-Qaida is determined to attack the UK with a nuclear weapon, it emerged yesterday. The announcement, from an officially organised Foreign Office counter-terrorism briefing for the media, was the latest in a series of bleak assessments by senior officials and ministers about the terrorist threat facing Britain.
UK officials have detected "an awful lot of chatter" on jihadi websites expressing the desire to acquire chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear weapons....
The warning comes after a speech last week by the foreign secretary, Margaret Beckett, on the terrorist threat facing the UK, and a rare public outing for Dame Eliza Manningham-Buller, the head of MI5, who warned that there were at least 30 active plots to attack Britain.
With new counter-terrorism measures to be unveiled in tomorrow's Queen's speech, the weekend saw Gordon Brown back an extension to the time for which terrorism suspects can be held without charge, beyond the current 28 days....
For al-Qaida and jihadis, a devastating nuclear attack on Britain, not just the use of a "dirty bomb', would be part of the desire and agenda to cripple the west, sources said....
The network of the rogue Pakistani scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan, which is feared to have sold nuclear technology to Libya, Iran and North Korea, was broken up three years ago, but there are fears that other illegal networks may exist.
British counter terrorism officials believe plots they have thwarted and plots they claim are being hatched have strong links to Pakistan. They say hundreds of Britons travelled in the past year to Pakistan for terrorism activity, including training in camps and acting as couriers for messages. Officials also believe Britons are taking cash to terrorists in Pakistan.

I've wondered the same thing.
We often make a lot of bravado statements here about how we'd turn them into glass, bomb Mecca, etc., but in this climate of appeasement, I think our new weinie congress along with the U.N. would be saying things like
"Now, now, don't jump to conclusions. We don't REALLY know who was responsible for this. Islam is a religion of peace and it was just a handful of radicals who did this. Bush could have made this happen to convince Americans we need 4 more years with a Republican president. Blah, blah, freaking blah!"
Do we have the intestinal fortitude to hit back in a way that will seriously cripple them and/or end it for GOOD?!
Flattening Mecca is the ONLY thing that will make them understand we intend to squash them like the cockroaches they are. Anything short of that is a dainty tap on the wrist.

What happens to the environment when a nuclear facility is bombed? Will it be another Chernobyl? Not that it matters that much if the alternative is that WE get hit with Nukes first.

I'm shocked! Shocked, I say. After all the nice people on the nightly news tell me that the reason everybody hates us is because W is a big fat liar and the Republican congress was even worse. We have Nice Nancy Pelosi and Harry "I really wasn't bribed" Reid in charge now. They even say we will pull out of Iraq and that they will veto everything mean old W wants to do. These nuts have told us what they want - the entire world praying to Mecca 5 times a day and anyone who doesn't go along will be killed. These are bad people and as a country we need to wake up and deal with them -- sadly something we seem unable to do.
What do we do? Well we know Repubs/Conservatives/The sane will want to stomp the bastards into the ground until dead dead dead. But the reality? We know the insane, the liberals and the liberal controlled media will blame whatever conservative/Repub is in power, and then liberal citizens will elect liberals to ensure another attack happens again, millions die, and the process repeats. Well I like to think positively as I am a positive person despite all the incredible hardship I have experienced.. (Hillary is my Senator for one, how is that for hardship? Yes, I accept your condolences of this horror of mine)
Anyway, they way I see it is I don`t think the Muzzies are quite right there yet with the nukes...They are still working on it and it may be a few years from now until they get to the point of dirty bombs, operational nukes and long range missles.
By the time that happens, Hillary will have been POTUS for a few years, and I do believe 100% she will be our next POTUS. Why? Because Repubs are doing nothing about it now, amongst other things, but that is beside the point.
When these nuke attacks happen, it will be so incredibly horrible, so horrific, it could not even be described. And guess who will be the center of focus for allowing this carnage to happen? Hillary. Finally liberals will be called to task, Hillary will be impeached, and this liberal cancer will finally end and be purged from the collective conciousness. People will no longer think that when a psychopath has a gallon of gas and a lit match, that he is going to mow the lawn.
Like I said, I like to see the bright side of things. With every bad there is a good.
Why? England is being over run my muslims and they can vote everyone in England out of office shortly. Their friends on the left will soon allow this to happen.

Supposedly some German children were so indocrinated that there were some who would turn-in their own parents if they said anything bad about the Nazis
