Mitt Romney-Jeb Bush for GOP Ticket in 2008?
News Max ^

Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has hired several of Jeb Bush’s top aides, leading to speculation that Romney may be courting the outgoing Florida governor for a possible Romney-Bush 2008 ticket for the White House.

After Bush’s former chief of staff and top political adviser, Sally Bradshaw, joined Romney’s Commonwealth political action committee earlier this month, Romney flew to Florida to join Bush for campaign events and fund-raisers - and to gauge Bush’s interest in being a running mate, sources told the Boston Herald.

Soon after, Bush’s chief finance director, Ann Woods Herberger, also joined Romney’s political action committee.

Bush has ruled out running for president himself. But agreeing to accept the vice presidential post would allow him to "run on the national ticket without having to run for the ticket,” since vice presidential candidates are chosen, not elected, political analyst David Mark, a former political reporter who covered Gov. Bush, told the Herald.

I vote for Mitt Romeny

You better use a spell checker before you vote. I agree. Romney gives us a shot at the north and some northeastern states.

Massachusetts' politicians scare me more than God.

'Bush' is not relative.

Anyone who lives in Florida with a brain would back Jeb 100%.

Anyone who wouldn't vote for him because of his name is an idiot.

Agreed, no more Bushes. There are plenty of other families, among the milions of American families, who have raised men fine enough to be president or vice president. Let's give them a chance.

I met John Quincy Adams VII when he was a student at Texas A&M. I doubt he'd be interested or that anyone wants another Adams to be President.

And therein lies the problem. I'm not so sure that all Floridians have a brain, as evidenced by this and the 2000 elections.

This country has plenty of those.

Romney is great. How about Michael Steele, or Rick Santorum, or other Conservative types without the last name of Bush for Vice-President...thank you very much. Also someone with an extremely clean slate would be mandatory.

If anyone mentions Giuliani, McCain, Newt Gingrich, or Dr. Rice again I'm going to scream.

If you think about the Electoral College and the actual states that are in play I guess the question would be how it would fly in Ohio and some of the other swing states. Because locking up Florida is a big deal.

Let's just say that Romney-Bush loses to Hillary Clinton in 2008.

President Clinton manages to mess up the nation and as a result, American voters do miss the days of steadfast President Bush.

So by 2012, there will be a national campaign to "Draft Jeb".

That's what they said about Allen...and look what happened.

IMHO, anything is possible now, everything is on the table, and whatever we do, please...no McCain, preferably no more Bushes, and especially no Hillary.

This is getting to the point of "just plain wrong." Will the decent, courageous, conservative leaders please stand up?

"But, I know nothing..."

In this case you are correct. Neither Bush nor Romney is suited to be President. Romney is just another big-government liberal and the Bush name is anathema to millions of us, thank you very much.

Jeb Bush is a great guy. The best of the Bush family in office -- but no chance of election -- at least not for 12 or so years.
