Well he's not prefect. LOL, I used to bash him pretty hard back in the day, but I'll support him this time around and hope for the best.

Yeah, that'll work.

Coburn was the man for the job. It's a shame we haven't banished Lott to the back bench ala the Dems handling of John Kerry.

Don't get done.

Somehow we have to prevent this debaucle from ruining this country - thanks to our "teach the GOP a lesson" ghouls.

Spot on ClancyJ, I'm wondering what all the complaining is about?

I thought this is what Conservatives wanted in their payback scheme?

No. It may get worse before it gets better. I think things will come around here eventually, but the shock is causing bad things to happen.

I can't believe you ever bashed him. You appear to be a cheerleader for him.

And, those that support weakness in our party are suspicious to say the least.

Some of you guys are on the brink of total depression and this is a sign of weak people. Weak people cannot rule, they always lose.

Lott [Jonah Goldberg]

If it's true that Lott has won his race, I think it's just another sign of how Republicans often fail to take politics seriously enough. I gather lots of folks in the Senate feel that Lott was treated unfairly when he lost his majority leader job and so giving him the whip post is something of a just consolation or some such. I'm sure some people think he'd be a good whip. But, ultimately, who cares? The GOP has an image problem right now. What's fair or unfair to Lott is of microscopic importance. Does the GOP really need a pork-loving Senator best known to average Americans — fairly or unfairly — as nostalgic for segregation? It's just so ham-fisted.

Freshmen senators get no respect EXCEPT for Liddy Dole, Lamar Alexander, Mel Martinez......

somebody's not getting the message. I'm starting to realize, shockingly, that there must be a major perceptional disconnect somewhere .

Unless the disconnect is intentional. Apparently, the GOP leadership could care less about learning to use power wisely - they would rather use their diminished power poorly.

And that is just going to kill any effort to improve the picture in 2008. Methinks a lot more pubbies are gonna have to be shown the door in the next round of primaries.

the most critical change needed in Washington is to curtail the porkers, and he's the GOP king of pork.

Don't forget the lawsuit he and his brother in law, Scruggs, filed in Mississippi! If he wins, it will essentially null and void every contract in this country.

But Trent will get his house rebuilt. That's all that matters.
