I too would like to read Rick Warren's side of this story. However, I find it distressing that he is involving himself in world politics in this fashion.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1738342/posts Trying to find out on this thread where his theology and eschatology are but I'm still not sure. Same with the National Assoc of Evangelical - where they stood? Everyone's favorite discussion I know, Dispensational theology, Replacement Theology, Reformed theology, Dominionism etc... but I would like to know.

We can't even believe anything our own media says, so I'm sure not going to believe something coming out of a Muslim country that wants to destroy Israel, the US and ANY non Muslim country in the world. I will pass on judging him for something that may not even be true. One thing we do know for sure is that lying is perfectly acceptable in Islam.

"It does seem to me that some clarification is required from Warren."
Don't bother. Warren's positions are well known and been refuted from within other representatives of Evangelical Christianity. This document is probably one of the more well known:
RICK WARREN'S GLOBAL P.E.A.C.E. PLAN vs. SCRIPTURAL TEACHINGS ON PEACE
It offers some insights into what Rick Warren is up to.
I am affiliated with a pretty wide body of Christians who have refuted Rick Warren and everything he teaches and promotes. That Warren would meet with a known terrorist supporting leader like Assad, thereby undermining American foreign policy, further proves the wisdom of our church leadership's decision.
Rick Warren is "off the reservation," if not completely off the chain, and I personally reject any association with him and his supporters. In a world of bio/chem and nuclear weapons "in the wild" and the stated goals and objectives of global Islamism, sitting down and "dialoguing" with the likes of Assad and Ahmadinejad is not only ludicrous, it shows a complete lack of understanding and comprehension of what we are facing in the Middle East, Israel and America combined.
Murderers only understand force. Bush and Rumsfeld understand that. But the majority of the American electorate just pulled their plug.
The Bible teaches specifically that the Jewish nation is going to face a global isolation some time in the future. The Jews may not like it; supporters of Israel, whatever their stripe might not like it, but the reasons why are clear. As the children of Israel faced Pharaoh, with their back to the Red Sea, they had only One to turn to. To trust wholly in G-d and not in men. Thus, Israel will be okay.
Up to this point, the national Evangelical Christian community in America and their vocal and much vaunted support of the Nation of Israel has been much published. With Warren and his being duped by the Syrians into becoming a propaganda stooge like this, his already shaky credibility will be further eroded, and that support will grow a little smaller.
But not from me.

If you were a big fan and used his "Purpose Driven Church" as a textbook, then you were the one duped.
The warning signs relative to Warren were all over his "Purpose Driven" materials. Through his more recent actions and associations, it is now becoming more clear....
He isn't being duped by the environmentalists, the lefties, the enemy and so forth...He is one of them!
It is the only possible explanation for actions such as teaching, while being careful not to mention Christ, Synagogue 3000 how to increase their numbers. Why would any "pastor" teach others how to increase the number of lost souls?

The Christian Church has had plenty of traitors who have turned their backs on the Lord's people throughout history...and it looks like this Warren fellow is the latest version.

I'm going to reserve judgement until Warren can give his side of this article
That's how I felt yesterday when I first heard about it.
Unfortunately he said what he said!

I guess it must be confusing to many...Why are president who supports Israel, why he is letting Rice (replacement theology?), Baker and now Warren (Dominionism) handle these (so unbelievably important) things in regards to Israel. What conclusion should they draw?
To: Salem
Rick Warren is moving into Jesse Jackson territory. His efforts, regardless of how well intentioned, usurps power we have vested in our elected leadership.
One cannot look upon Syria's long history of antagonism in the region and say they seek peace. Peace has been on the table for decades, but Syria does not have find it palatable.
Most upsetting are the overly apparent efforts of Rick Warren to whitewash an Islamic state as viewing non-Muslims as Muslim equals within Syria. This can never be so within an Islamic state. Islam prohibits it.
To: backtothestreets
You are right on all points. That's why seeing something like this completely demolishes any last shred of Warren's credibility.

If Rick Warren spoke those words I would be suprised. They are worded exactly like an Arab would speak, using idioms from the Arabic culture like "its beautiful people". Americans do not say that, they say "the country is beautiful". In Arab cultures, the people are a subset of the country, in English cultures the country is a subset of the people.
So in english, you would say the country is beautiful BECAUSE of the people. And in Arabic the People are beautiful BECAUSE of the Country!
Accent is not just the sound, it is often the way thoughts are formed that identify the source. By now, we should all know how to tell when an Islamic is lying. He speaks.

Americans do not say that, they say "the country is beautiful". On the contrary, liberals say that the people are beautiful.

You are very right! The religion of Islam was spread by the sword of the biggest terrorist-Mohhamet.And the Koran is the live document that support that.
The islamists respect mighty force only. And we should use it first when we deal with them. Second we should declare Islamism a terrorist religion and treat it like we treated the fascism.
