Unfit for Majority Leader
Washington Post ^ | 15 November 2006 | Ruth Marcus

Posted on 11/15/2006 4:41:17 AM PST by shrinkermd

The videotape is grainy, dark and devastating. The congressman and the FBI undercover agents -- the congressman thinks they represent an Arab sheik willing to pay $50,000 to get immigration papers -- are talking business in the living room of a secretly wired Washington townhouse.

Two other congressmen in on the deal "do expect to be taken care of," the lawmaker says. But for the time being -- and he says repeatedly that he might change his mind and take money down the road -- he'd rather trade his help for investment in his district, maybe a hefty deposit in the bank of a political supporter who's done him favors.

"I'm not interested -- at this point," he says of the dangled bribe. "You know, we do business for a while, maybe I'll be interested, maybe I won't, you know." Indeed, he acknowledges, even though he needs to be careful -- "I expect to be in the [expletive] leadership of the House," he notes -- the money's awfully tempting. "It's hard for me to say, just the hell with it...."

OK, where are our guys screaming "culture of corruption?" If the tables were turned you would have a dozen democrats in front of the TV cameras screaming about the corruption that continues and is about to be promoted. No wonder we lose elections, we never show up! Now is the time to set the pace for 2008 not Nov of 2008.

The President on down in this Republican party have been unwilling to fight these dem bastards. The President is willing to slug it out with the rest of the world, but not the traitors from inside his own country. He underestimated what a fifth column could do.

That the Post is running this should tell you that Murtha is not going to win this. If he does then Pelosi has already stepped in a huge pile of dog crap and she hasn't even been sworn in yet!!!

Yep
The Post running it is the signal to ABC CBS NBC to start running it

I wonder if Pelosi is just paying off debts. He demands the post, she offers, most object, he loses, debt paid.

What a laugh that 60% of voters in exit polls said their main concern was "corruption"...so they voted for known Democrat crooks! Where was the cheerleading msm before the elections? Beating up on Republicans for minor flubs that they blew out of all proportion. The msm needs to be held accountable for their arrogant bias.

Yeah but I wonder if it would have mattered

GOP voters have standards
Democrats will and do vote for anybody

Great sentence! I wonder when the hit pieces on Pelosi start appearing because the DBM cannot, under any circumstances, permit Ms. America from upstaging Madame DeFarge.

And they already took care of Kerry for Hillary

I have to be honest and say I dont like Steny Hoyer, I dont like his stance on abortion, and I dont like the way he uses pork to stay in office, but in keeping with that honesty I have to admit he has done some good things for his constituents.

The msm needs to be held accountable for their arrogant bias.

Figure out HOW to do that, and you will go down in history.

It appears that the WaPo has put itself in the position of the decider...who will be in and who will not.

Indeed. This isn't accidental or unplanned.

WaPo is shaping the government to its liking.

They had this information two weeks ago.

They had this information much longer than that!

A 13-second clip of the video was released several months ago.
DIANA IREY issued a press release regarding this info on August 30, 2006 found here!

Through the FOIA, The American Spectator obtained a copy of the full original video and posted it on the internet September 29, 2006. View it here!

DIANA IREY had an additional website titled YouDontKnowJack!
This website is full of facts regarding Murtha's shady dealings.

DIANA IREY held a press conference October 4, 2006 at the National Press Club where she played the ABSCAM Video. Photos can be found here!

Yes, they most certainly did have the information for far longer than 2 weeks!

The information was out there for over 2 MONTHS!!!

However, if the good people of the 12th District had known about the dealings of dirty John al-Murthawi, he may not have won re-election and we simply couldn't have that now, could we!

It's interesting to me that the WAcomPost (let's pound on Allen) has 'all of a sudden' found out about Murtha and been running articles against him.

Here's what another source has to say about Murtha's chances - - get the popcorn ready:

Lib Blog: Jack Murtha has the votes (For Majority Leader)
MyDD ^ | November 14, 2006 | Jerome Armstrong

I've heard from a couple of different Hill sources that Murtha is ahead; that newly elected Democrats favor Hoyer by a 2:1 margin, but that Murtha is ahead by about 25 votes overall, which has come about from the standing members after Nancy Pelosi's letter. The vote is Thursday.

Even though Murtha...who was on the Ethics Committee at the time...claimed no money changed hands, his own words show he was aware that Congressmen were soliciting bribes, and he did nothing to expose the crimes. A detailed article and actual video on this incident is here

More on Murtha corruption:

Murtha's role in the culture of corruption also implicates Pelosi herself. Roll Call reported last year that Murtha "reportedly leaned on U.S. Navy officials to sign a contract to transfer the Hunters Point Shipyard to the city of San Francisco." Pelosi's nephew, Laurence Pelosi, was an executive of the company that owned the rights to the land. Roll Call also reported that Murtha has been behind millions of dollars worth of earmarks in defense appropriations bills that went to companies owned by the children of his fellow Pennsylvania Democrat, Rep. Paul Kanjorski.

Source

Republican lawmakers say that ties between Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) and his brother’s lobbying firm, KSA Consulting, may warrant investigation by the House ethics committee. KSA directly lobbied Murtha’s office on behalf of seven companies, and a Murtha aide told a defense contractor that it should retain KSA to represent it, according to the LA Times.

"I wonder if Pelosi is just paying off debts."

Yeah, what's he got on her? She used him as her useful idiot front man against the Iraqi war. This smells like the classic backroom deal to me.

She's backing him in the face of political suicide for doing so. Too bad the vote is secret, or we'd find out who else owes Jack Murtha.
