100 turn out in Fremont for ``Wear a Hijab/Turban Day.'' EVENT PROMPTED BY SLAYING OF AFGHAN MOTHER OF SIX

They came in saffron turbans, glittering purple head scarves and blue yarmulkes to show that Fremont is not a hateful place.

The catalyst for the grass-roots event was the Oct. 19 slaying of Alia Ansari. The 38-year-old mother of six was gunned down as she picked up her children from a Fremont elementary school. The Afghan native wore a chador -- a loose scarf that is also called a hijab -- over her head, as a sign of modesty mandated in Islam.

No one has been arrested in connection with her death. Many community members believe it was a hate crime, although police have no evidence of who did it or why.

So who is it? Sikhs or Muslims? Or do you mean you can now tell which 7-11's to patronize, since you can now tell the Sikh-owned ones from the Muslim-owned ones?

I'm going to wear a turban with a big ol' caricature of Mohammed on it. :)"
And I'm going to go dressed like this.

Me too, I used to help out with the catholic basketball team. The Morris County CRUSADERS, LOVE that name.

I want the next pro sports franchise to use that name and watch liberals throw hissy fits!

Based on the headgear, it's Sikhs.

Or do you mean you can now tell which 7-11's to patronize, since you can now tell the Sikh-owned ones from the Muslim-owned ones?

Doesn't matter to me. I'll go in whichever one is closest at the time.
