Rewind to 1995. Pull a Bill Clinton on the demorats.

If Bolton's nomination does not make it to the Senate floor I hope President Bush just leaves the post vacant. Let the rats explain why we do not have an ambassador at the UN.

The guy wasn't smart or observant enough to realize that his seat was in jeopardy (despite warnings from the national party apparatus). In no way is he smart enough to represent this country's interests at the UN.

To: Jacquerie
And add to your brilliant idea (I actually mean that!) that GW could issue an executive order to stop ALL funding to the UN and ALL UN activities until Bolton gets his vote.

We're already withholding funding. Their receiving funds is tied to their effort to clean up the un.

I'm not a big fan of this new trend among us to enforce "ideological purity" on the Republican Party, but Jim Leach really was a disaster. He was truly wrong on a host of really important issues. He was a spineless moderate when he should have been a Conservative, and he was an Authoritarian quasi-fascist when he should have taken more moderate positions. This guy was just flat out wrong about nearly everything.

Yeah, stop funding until the demorats give an up or down vote. We forget that Reagan went over the heads of the old media to sell his ideas. It can be done again, President Bush can do it and conservatives in Congress, talk radio, etc can support him. It is only a matter of will.

Leach has never been the same since the Whitewater hearings.....if memory serves, people were going through his garbage, and leaving him threats on the phone, etc. (ala Kathleen Willey's dead cat). The real Jim Leach then disappeared, never to be heard from again.

It'd make more sense to have him head up the DNC, frankly.

Santorum for Supreme Court. Why waste him in a job that's essentially a side show for freaks and weirdos?

What a joke! We're going to replace the testosterone endowed Mr. Bolton with this soggy piece of limp toast? Jim Leach is a spineless, ball-less limp wristed girly man. God help us!
