guy was walking around a school with it in his pants, right?Full marks! Now that particular panic attack was in America - proving (if we needed it proven) that it's the lefty media - on either side of the Atlantic - that is terrified and baffled by guns. 45mm pistol, LOL.

Police are treating the unattended ammunition as a crime
How do you punish a cartridge? Execute it, post haste.

The story reads like the script of
Plan 9 From Outer Space Compare:
Plan 9: "One thing's sure. Inspector Clay is dead. Murdered. And someone's responsible!"
Bullet Found in Doorway: "If it goes bang, it is still lethal."

Personally, I could give a fig about the bullet, but I'm glad you posted this article Kiriath Jearim.
The question that interests me is this:
Who dropped that bullet?

Please, please, for the love of God tell me this is a joke. A "lethal" .22 Short, armed and primed and ready to shoot itself? I've often suspected the editorial staff of the Guardian is populated by squirrels and rats but now I know it's true.
To: subterfuge
The bullet, of Swiss origin,
Oh wait a minute...The Swiss haven't shot in anger for how long?

It's the kind of article one would expect to see in the New York Times.
To: Izzy Dunne
Hey don't make fun of .22. The will leave on hell of a nasty mark on your skin.
Why, once I fired six into a squirell and it almost killed it.

At least we know that it has been accounted for, so there can be no fear of UN sanctions or a UN resolution against self firing plinkers...no wait, I'm confused.
Better get Hans Blix on the job to find all the rogue .22 short cartridges hidden on shop floors before we rush into a quagmire.
To: kiriath_jearim
I wish I had all of the bullets that have fallen from my truck when I opened the door back. This article is an absurd overreaction.

The bullet, of Swiss origin, But if a terrorist were found in the doorway, they wouldn't mention the person's origin. That wouldn't be PC.

Its the talking points of anti-gunners.
They are convinced that guns and bullets kill people all by themselves.

The .22 calibre short round
Jon Cary Save Me!
My brother, who wasn't even a shooter, had one, well a long rifle, rattling around in the squirrel cage blower of his '65 or '66 Mustang for months. It never went off, not even with the heater running full blast.
