Giuliani has been carefully preparing for this moment. He spent the past election season accumulating a reservoir of good will among Republicans, campaigning hard for Republican candidates from Oregon to New Hampshire. He was particularly adept at raising money for those candidates and has established himself as one of few presidential hopefuls capable of raising the $100 million or so that is seen as necessary to win the White House. At the moment, he is getting help from Anne Dickerson, who ran President Bushs highly successful Pioneer and Ranger fundraising machine in 2004.
Giuliani has allied closely with Bush & Co. He made a high profile speech at the 2004 Republican National Convention and has gone on the road to stump with President Bush. There has also been speculation, started by the Washington Post's Kathleen Parker, that Ken Mehlman, the outgoing Republican National Committee chairman and former Bush-Cheney 2004 campaign manager, will be joining the Giuliani camp.

Brings to mind a discussion on another thread where I was told that politics determined my happiness. I simply said that the important things in my life and the things I love are not impacted by political events. Do they effect my love for my sons, No. For high culture, No. For my friends, No. For the Bears, No.
If the contrary were true I would have had to off myself decades ago living in this political cesspool.
If anything Rudy has shown himself to be a survivor. There are no political difficulties he cannot overcome. Even the fact that he is the early frontrunner says a lot.
I admire many of Guiliani's qualities but that does not mean I agree with him 100%.
There isn't a firearm, cop or EMT in NY who would not inform the feds should their suspicion be aroused by an Arab. There are a handful of them which are illegals compared to thousands of Latinos.
You're free to go in whatever direction.
I will vote my conscience, which includes the possibility of a write-in, if I have to.
I'll say it again: the Republicans who are left in Congress better grow some spines. Don't blame "values voters" - blame the RINOS.
THEY better get moving, or more of them will be out next time. The loss of the conservative base can be a very powerful motivator for Republicans who want to stay in office. I for one find it unacceptable to have no voter choice between Democrats and RINOs, when it comes to values.
I refuse to sell out.
I'm just going to sit for a good long while and think it over.
And in the meantime, I'll just bask in the knowledge that Rudy ain't it.
You have been fortunate.
Unconditional love is a great concept, but I finally understand that in order for a relationship to work for me at least, my future wife and I must be politically and religiously compatible.
I tried unconditional love and found success only with my pet Yorkie.
So you acknowledge Rudy's act of turning NYC into a sanctuary city for criminal aliens is disdainful but you admire a man who acts disdainfully and want him to be president where he can continue to do things you disdain. Hmmmm
Secondly, you claimed that Atta couldnt be stopped for a traffic violation and drive off today and I pointed out that you are wrong. Any fireman, cop, EMT, etc, would notify the feds if they had a reason to suspect anyone was a terrorist, not just Arabs. But the fact remains, they are prohibited from asking foreigners legal status by the sanctuary Rudy created and Bloomberg continued.
Illegal aliens flew airplanes into the World Trade Center. One of the key players in the attack should have been in jail or already deported because the cop who stopped him for a traffic violation should have been able to check his legal status and arrest him when it came up that Atta was illegal.
After the WTC attack Rudy didnt revoke the sanctuary order.
These are facts. You cant get around them or deny them. To this day Rudy has not said sanctuary was a mistake. Nor has he said we should close the borders and have local police check the status of aliens they encounter.
Nothing in this leads me to believe that Rudy would be better on defending the homeland than a conservative.
It's people like you who gave us a Dim House and Senate.
Would you vote for Keyes? I thought so. I want Rudy to kick Hillary's arse so I don't have to listen to Bill Clinton for 8 years!
Don't put this on *me*. Put it on the RNC. I'm sure they've heard about the conservative base by now.
If anything Rudy has shown himself to be a survivor. There are no political difficulties he cannot overcome. Even the fact that he is the early frontrunner says a lot.
Pretty good. You're telling me something about myself that *I* don't even know right now.
