science ping. And last night I watched a show about "monster volcanoes" that go off every several hundred thousand years with enough force to cause massive plant and animal killing ice ages. And Yellowstone national park is one of them and the most active.

I remember many years ago I wondered why geodes could be found in Tampa Bay. The area is not known for a volcanic past.
Apparently the geodes are from the Yucatan meteorite/asteroid event.
