Get along with Dems? Not for Hoosier pol

Republican Rep. Mike Pence, who's seeking to become leader of the House Republicans when Democrats take control in January, says his party's primary mission in Congress' next two sessions will be ''to defeat the agenda of the Democratic Party.'' Pence (R-Ind.) released a document containing a five-point vision in which he declared that ''our primary task these next two years: to expose, dismantle and defeat the 'principles to which we have been forced to succumb.'''

The document repeats Pence's call to the GOP to unite behind conservative goals of small government and lower taxes and goes on to urge fellow House Republicans to dedicate themselves to using their ''talents and expertise to dismantle Democratic arguments and expose their liberal, big government agenda at every turn.''

Jennifer Wagner, a spokeswoman for the Indiana Democratic Party, said over the weekend that she was surprised by the tone of Pence's statement, calling it pessimistic and antagonistic.

What the people want

''I think if we learned one thing from Tuesday it's that people in this country want Republicans and Democrats to work together in Congress,'' she said. Despite a strategy based on confronting the Democratic Party's goals, Pence also told The Republic of Columbus he thinks Republicans should search for common ground with the Democrat majority. AP

Democrats only want bipartisanship if they get to be on top.

Republicans lost cause they lost the will to fight not because they haven't been civil. IMHO, Republicans have been far too civil with the Mohammed lovers.

When they talk about Democrats and Republicans "working together", you better tighten the grip on your wallet!

What common ground? I cannot think of one thing that Conservatives have in common with Pelosi. What am I missing?

''I think if we learned one thing from Tuesday it's that people in this country want Republicans and Democrats to work together in Congress,'' she said.

How rich is that? Pelosi's plan was to obstruct W's agenda. Even the left-wing Atlantic Monthly recognized that in 2005. But now that Pence is planning to turn the dem plot against them, we hear squealing.

Frankly, I read the "public's" message to be, "do little." Why give us divided government if they expected things to happen? The easiest way to make things happen would have been to throw out even more democrats, but they didn't. The public must want less government solutions not more.
