Why would he do what they say? Nominate a conservative...they say no. Nominate a more conservative...they say no. Nominate even more conservative....they say no.........how long can they go saying no? Make them do it.

MAKE THEM DO IT! I do NOT believe they will turn down nominee after nominee after nominee. I don't think they can sustain it. It will become the dominant issue on the news.......MAKE THEM DO IT!

Make my day....vote down judge after judge after judge....do it Democrats. I dare ya. We can keep nominating a new one over and over again for two years if thats what you want to do.

Anyway...if it was me thats what I would do.

It wasn't in the mainstream news AT ALL until the Constitutional option was brought up.

I don't exactly disagree, but now that the Dems have a majority, they won't have to "say no" at all. They just won't say anything. The nominees chosen for doom simply will never get hearings and/or will not be reported, even unfavorably, out of Leahy's committee.

Unfortunately, I don't think it's in Bush to "make them do it." And after the dismal presser he held the day after the election, it's clear he's going to go along to get along.

See you in '08? Maybe?

This is exactly the path the President needs to take. He would win this hands down. If the Dems were against judge after judge after judge, with the Pres, and all the Pubs on TV night after night, doing pressers on the steps of congress, the Dems would cause such a impression of extremism, it would be bad on them, real bad.

The Pubs should call them extreme and give the personal stories of those like Janice Rogers Brown on TV, over and over, asking "what's wrong with this accomplished black woman?"

This would put the Dems in such a bad light with the American people that they wouldn't be able to investigate anything about the war without looking like they're extreme again. "Out to get the president".

Congress could very well go back to the Pubs again in two years, just on this issue alone, if the Pubs and the President are in unison and unrelenting.

It would work.

He oughta nominate Ann Coulter just to watch their heads spin! She wouldn't get the votes, but the questioning by the Dem controlled Senate Committee would be a JOY to watch!

Uhh, they did for Nixon. I think they voted down 3 in a row.

But of course, they had a larger majority back then.

We need folks like Roberts. Some record, but not too big of a record. And they need to be super smart. Part of the reason Roberts won so easily is that he made all the D's on the Committee look stupid because he was so smart. Every time they asked him a question, he looked at them like they were retared, and calmly explained this very simple thing to them that they seemed to be having trouble grasping.

Alito is smart, but not in the same way. He knew what he was talking about, but he couldn't make them look stupid the same way Roberts can. We need more John Roberts' for the next vacancy.

You are probably right, it will become a hot news item. And the news will be...Bush Refuses To Nominate Consensus Judges. IOW, the MSM will spin it as being Bush's fault. He's stubborn, he's partisan, he's "extremist", he's "out of the mainstream", he won't "work with Democrats".

Remember the government shutdown back in the 90s? It took two to pull that off, Clinton and Congress (as pictured by Newt Gingrich). Two parties did it, but only one (Gingrich) got the blame. We had weekly news magazines running with the cover story "The Gingrich Who Stole Christmas", replete with heart-rending stories of "poor government workers" forced to do without (even though many, if not most, simply ended up with an unscheduled vacation with pay).

Then the 'Pubs supposedly worked out an agreement to re-open the government, and Clinton used that as an opportunity to cornhole the 'Pubs by double-crossing them and keeping the government shutdown, saying the 'Pubs broke the agreement (they didn't). The MSM parroted the lie and the sheeple bought it.
