The Election is history....what in God's name....

Posted on 11/13/2006 2:17:32 PM PST by cp124

The Election is history but I have a question....................what in God's name were the people thinking that voted to make Nancy Pelosi Speaker of the House and liberal Democrats as chairmen of the select comitees of Congress.

By now you've all seen the Democrats' latest campaign slogan: "A New Direction For America -- Vote DEMOCRATIC!"*

Let's analyze this empty and misleading promise.

The stock market is at a new all-time high and America's 401K's are back. A new direction from there means what?

Unemployment is at 25 year lows. A new direction from there means what?

Oil prices are plummeting. A new direction from there means what?

Taxes are at 20 year lows. A new direction from there means what?

Federal tax revenues are at all-time highs. A new direction from there means what?

The Federal deficit is down almost 50%, just as predicted over last year. A new direction from there means what?

Home valuations are up 200% over the past 3.5 years. A new direction from there means what?

Inflation is in check, hovering at 20 year lows. A new direction from there means what?

Not a single terrorist attack on US soil since 9/11/01. A new direction from there means what?

Osama bin Laden is living under a rock in a dark cave, having not surfaced in years, if he's alive at all, while 95% of Al Queda's top dogs are either dead or in custody, cooperating with US Intel. A new direction from there means what?

Several major terrorist attacks already thwarted by US and British Intel, including the recent planned attack involving 10 Jumbo Jets being exploded in mid-air over major US cities in order to celebrate the anniversary of the 9/11/01 attacks A new direction from there means what?

Just as Bush had planned and foretold us of on a number of occasions, Iraq was to be made "ground zero" for the war on terrorism -- and just as Bush said they would, terrorist cells from all over the region are alighting the shadows of their hiding places and flooding into Iraq in order to get their faces blown off by US Marines rather than boarding planes and heading to the United States to wage war on us here. A new direction from there means what?

Moreover, bear in mind that all of the above occurred in the face of the 1999 tech crash, the epidemic of corporate scandals throughout the 90's, and the 9/11/01 terrorist attacks on NYC years in the planning which collectively sucked 24 trillions dollars and 7.8 million jobs out of the US economy even before G. W. Bush had time to unpack his suitcases in the White House.

It's easy for the Democrats to attempt to discredit, disgrace and defame our commander in chief, George W. Bush -- that's what they do. What's not so easy for them to do is to refute irrefutable facts, no matter how they might try.

Do yourself and this country of ours a favor and don't be a mindless sheep or a blind liberal lap dog, bent on hate and blame-shifting simply in the name of hate and blame-shifting.

It will be an interesting two years. I have a feeling we are going to pay a very high price for the shortsightedness of the electorate.

Conservatives quit acting like conservatives. That's why they lost. That and the dems convinced the independents that Iraq was in the toilet.

Home valuations are up 200% over the past 3.5 years.

Which means if tomorrow morning I developed the ability to s*** hundred dollar bills, I still couldn't afford to buy a house.

Now WHY couldn't the RNC have ran an ad that said exactly that?!?!!! Sheesh.

Bush has flopped on immigration and the border. That's about it.

Well, America, you wanted change, you're going to get it. But NOT in a good direction.

America is going to get the future that over half of its voters chose, so they deserve it. We weren't successful in educating them and winning, so we deserve it, too (although not as much).

Democracy born in the Middle East...a new direction there means what. No attacks in the US in 5 years. A new direction there means what!

The Republicans lost mainly because the Media was intent on getting the liberals back in power. Just like the media gave Kerry a 15 percent uptick in 04 it did the same for the Congress in 06... Its just that the Base was not as enthused as it was in 04 due to congressional corruption... It truly is a shame but predictable that the Rats read this election as a mandate for withdraw in Iraq... Now America has to live with the results of whatever direction politics takes Iraq and the War on Terror...

More than half of the voters didn't realize they were doing this. Most folks don't even know who Nancy Pelosi is yet. Just ask around if you don't believe me.

"Nancy who"?

However, Kristen Wiig playing her on "SNL" this weekend will help with her name recognition, perhaps (and Kristen's as well, which should help to propel her career). But that's for another thread.

The economy and the war have not yet collapsed. A week already and there they sit. What do you think? Another week and it's the Gates of Hell? Maybe a month.

You're right about the strong economy. The election turned on one issue, Iraq. The minor issues thrown on top of the discontent with Iraq, Foley, Michael J. Fox, Abramoff, just gave the Democrats a boost. Without the war they wouldn't have had the same momentum.

Without clear victories the voters lose patience with a long war. The two biggest victories are long past. We came, we saw, we conquered, then we captured Saddam. The problem with suppressing the insurgency is it seems like it could be endless. God knows the Israelis have been dealing with the same sort of problem for decades.

Because the Republicans aren't going to give away as much "free" stuff to the "undocumented" immigrants that are soon to be citizens.

Well, c'mon. The new Congress won't be seated until next year. Give it time.

I hear ya - but I ask, would it be better that conservatives delivered their "message" in 2006 or 2008? Or were they supposed to wait until 2012 or 2016?

I can see where some might say they should not have delivered a message at all. If it had to happen, I'm glad it happened now, because if it didn't, I would be sending my message too in 2008. I'm not prepared to wait indefinitely for Republicans to get back on track, and I suspect they wouldn't unless hit with a 2 by 4.

The dysfunctional RINOs in Connecticut voted for LIEberman strictly on his stance regarding the war against terrorism in Iraq while ignoring his Socialist positions on all other issues.

The CT RINOs failed to see the big picture. Terrorism is occurring on many fronts globally, including our porous border with Mexico. Terrorists can easily cross the border posing as illegal aliens. The Secure Fence Act will make that task for terrorists more difficult and yet LIEberman voted against the Act because he wanted to attach an amendment that would have given illegal aliens/terrorists what is tantamount to amnesty through the "Guest Worker" program.

LIEberman will be in the minority with respect to fighting terrorism in Iraq and he will agree with his fellow Socialists on all other issues. The CT RINOs had a complete disconnect to these situations and as a result they won the battle but will lose the war.

You sound like one of those RNC mailouts that hits people up for money before the election. But seriously, stop wetting your pants. The country will not fall apart between now and 2008. All that will happen is Democrats will start acting foolish and tearing themselves apart for control of their own party (as we will be, though not as extreme as the Dems). This is all a big setup for 2008.

Most voters don't even know who Pelosi is let alone the fact that her new position (as Speaker) would make her third in line in Presidential succession.
