Islamists Rising

As the dust of the 2006 election settles, it's clear who the real winners are. Our enemies pay far more attention to our politics than most of our citizens, and know just how to manipulate our media to achieve maximum impact. Think it's a coincidence that October was constantly referred to as, "the bloodiest month since 2003" in every newscast for weeks before the election? Just as they swayed the Spanish election in 2004 -- but failed to do three times in Iraq -- the enemy has influenced our own political process to benefit themselves. (web site)

More than anything, the 2006 election results have sent a message to members of our own military. What must they think when they see Dick "our troops are like Nazis" Durbin (web site)taking the number two position in the Senate, and Jack "they're guilty without a trial" Murtha (web site) vying for second banana in the House? (web site) The new leaders of Congress will meet next week with former presidential candidate George "Come Home America" McGovern, (web site) whose 1972 bid failed due to his radical anti-war stance. McGovern will be advising our new leaders on how best to pull the troops out of Iraq by June of 2007. (web site) What other conclusion can anyone draw than that we, as a country, do not support those who fight on our behalf?

By putting into power those who advocate retreat from Iraq in the face of the enemy, we have failed the troops who depend on our moral support to sustain them. The only Democrat plans for Iraq I've ever heard are "cut and run" (immediate withdrawal), "cut and walk" (phased withdrawal), "split and quit" (divide the country, declare victory and leave) and "hide and bide" (retreat to secure bases and let Sunni, Shi'a, Kurds, Ba'athists and al-Qaeda fight it out). Not one major Democratic leader has called for winning, and our troops know that. Nancy Pelosi, who will soon take her place as Speaker of the House, considers Iraq "not a war to be won, but a situation to be solved." (web site) By putting the Defeatocrats in charge, we have sent our troops the clear message that we do not support them or their mission.

What's even worse, we've sent our enemies that message, too.

Al-Qaeda and other terrorists have always believed that they could win because we Americans are too soft for war, and can't take the sight of our own blood. Those fighting our troops in Iraq have continued against the odds because they knew that if they keep up the pressure, the anti-war Democrats would push for retreat... and now, they control Congress. Terrorists have understood all along that a Democratic sweep of Congress would be their victory. (web site) All they had to do to reach that conclusion was listen to the speeches of major Democrats over the last few years.

"Of course Americans should vote Democrat," said Jihad Jaara, a senior member of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, adding that "there is an atmosphere in America that encourages those who want to withdraw from Iraq." Muhammad Saadi, a senior leader of Islamic Jihad, said the Democrats' talk of withdrawal from Iraq makes him feel "Very proud from the great successes of the Iraqi resistance." Hamas leader Abu Abdullah said that talk of withdrawal "proves the strategy of the resistance is the right strategy against the occupation." Islamic Jihad leader Abu Ayman said he is "emboldened" by those in America who compare the war in Iraq to Vietnam.

AP reports that Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, the leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq, is well satisfied by the way his efforts affected the 2006 election. (web site) Speaking via audio tape, al-Muhajir "welcomed the Republican electoral defeat that led to the departure of Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld. He added that the group's fighters would not rest until they had blown up the White House." According to Reuters, "Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Friday called U.S. President George W. Bush's defeat in congressional elections a victory for Iran." (web site)

Yet the Democrats never question why our enemies would celebrate their victory.

Osama bin Laden declared war on what he considered a "weak horse" (1996) (web site) and a "paper tiger" (1998) (web site) after watching American troops ordered to pull out of Somalia after only 18 casualties in 1993. (web site) The attacks by thugs and terrorists in Iraq today are aimed, not at our troops or the innocent Iraqis who die in them, but at our will to fight. America, our enemies believe, has no stomach for battle.

So the American people have spoken, and -- whatever the truth may be -- it sure sounds as though we said, "the enemy was right."

""hide and bide" (retreat to secure bases and let Sunni, Shi'a, Kurds, Ba'athists and al-Qaeda fight it out)."

failing to fight and win using our full capabilities, (something that should have been done from the very beginning) I'm in favor of that option. Hopefully by the time they've finnished killing themselves off we will have elected a better, more sincre government willing to finnish the job.

Failing that, our days of trying to establish peace anywhere in the world are over. We have proven to the world we cannot deliver, we are incapable of finnishing the job.

For those in Sudan harboring hopes that one day the USA will come end the genocide there, forget it.
For those in Nigeria hoping for the same, forget it.
For those in Etheopia hoping the USA will stop the Muslim hordes advancing on it from Somolia,- forget it.

The USA is unable to project itself anywhere in the world and finnish the job. It's resigned to sit within it's own borders and assist those illegal aliens in their take over of America, provide those who have trecked for days across the Mexican desert with food shelter, welfare and medical aid. Maybe America might defwend itself if attacked, but I don't see how when terrorists do not operate out of any one particular country.

Our limit will ultimately be reached...but I fear it will take hundreds of thousands of dead instead of 3,000.

In World War II, when we were surprised attacked and lost 2,500, we came together as a nation with the will to fight hard until victory was achieved. Four years later, after horrific fighting and sacrifice, and after losing 225,000 personnel, we emerged victorious.

Today, four years after our modern attack, after losing 4,000 our people have voted in those who will call it quits...even though we have liberated something like 40 million people and are pushing the terrorists fighters hard, their leaders hiding in holes in the ground.

It is shameful...and it will ultimately lead to tens or hundreds of thousands of our own dead before we re-attain that will to fight to win. But even stronger and more powerful enemies (like Red China) will then try and ensure that we cannot do so.

Soon we will leave behind those not strong enough to face reality.

Blame leadership for NOT totally commiting the nation to war like FDR did in 41. Had the usa mobilized raised a 3 million man army and dealt with the entire middle east the nation would still be supporting the war effort.

I agree...see my respons to verity HERE.

This is a generational conflict to determine the furure for decades, if not centuries to come. We canot expect to fight such a conflict and go about life back home as if though it were not happening. Our father didn't (and they knew they couldn't and sacrificed and acted accordingly) and neither can we.

I hate to be a defeatist but the people have voted and we will not regain our resolve until we are hit very hard. The terrorists will probably set a goal of subjugation through attrition. The Democrats, MSM, Hollywood etc. will be happy to live in their protected enclaves while the war does on. Hopefully we will wake up before it is too late. Before it is over we are going to suffer greatly for the 2006 election.

As I have said many times on these boards...I agree...we will now pay a much stiffer price, probably to the toon of tens or hundreds of thosuands of dead before our sleeping electorate wakes up to the reality and true nature of the danger these enemies pose.

During most wars, the troops weren't interested in politics. They were completely focused on doing their jobs and doing it well. What reason is there to think this is any different?

This may seem like a non sequitar here, but this is a thread about rising Islam, so I am posing a question for some/all of you who know how to research. Barak Obama is called an African-American, but his background is Muslim. Of course, Africa is full of Muslims. But I have wondered if his background, religious and academic, as well as familial is Muslim? He could be a real stealth candidate.
The Islamic presence is growing, but would most people, even those who voted for him, want one of 100 senators to be Muslim?

Just curious. Anyone who can find out, please post or send private email.
