Just breaking.

This is going to sound racist and I don't mean it that way, but what percentage of the 6% Hispanics pay one minute of attention to politics?
I agree it is not a disaster but I would have loved to have someone full time not a sitting Senator.
Makes you wonder if its about ideology or just winning elections. Happens on both sides of the aisle.
I don't think President Bush has anything to do with picking the RNC Chairman...I don't know who DOES..but, I don't think the POTUS does
.. ,,, ,,, ---
You are not correct. He absolutely does submit the name because basically, the Pres is the head of the party.
I'll drink to that!
You people are way too concerned about who looks good on TV shows that nobody watches. Didn't we all think Howard Dean was going to be a disaster as DNC chairman? How'd that turn out?
The RNC Chairman does not make policy for the party. Who cares what Mel Martinez thinks about immigration? Do you know what Ken Mehlman thinks about it? Do you know what Howard Dean thinks about it? The RNC chair is supposed to raise money and win campaigns, and effectively communicate the party's policies that are decided by the White House and the GOP members of Congress.
I worked a lot with Mel Martinez when he was at HUD. He is a VERY good communicator, and is very smart. He is an excellent choice. He is not going to be the nuts and bolts guy that Mehlman was, that is what Mike Duncan will do and he knows how to do it. And unlike Michael Steele and Rick Santorum, both of whom just got their clocks cleaned in this election, Mel Martinez cleaned the Democrats' clock in his election, in a very big battleground state. Why would the party that just LOST name a LOSER as national chairman??
Flood the lines!!!!!!!!!!!!
W.H.# 202-456-1111
RNC # 202-863-8500
CALL TODAY!!!!!
We need to start pounding on the doors of the White House and the doors of Congress like we did when the Dims tried to "count" the votes in Florida.
It's one thing to sit here and type out your frustrations, it's another to pick up the phone, send e-mails, petitions, etc.
Now is the time to call the leadership in the House and Senate and DEMAND we get some NEW, CONSERVATIVE faces...
Suggestions:
Senate:
Sen. Jeff Sessions (AL)
DC # 202-224-4124
House:
Rep. Mike Pence
DC# 202-225-3021
Rep. John Shadegg
DC# 202-225-3361
Now, for Michael Steele. Mr. President, make him Ambassador to the European Union - the last was a recess appointment that will end in January.
Regards, Ivan
Agreed - however I am of the opinion that more often than not total stalemate on passing yet more laws can often be a good outcome...
Even if Martinez was the most exciting speaker in the world...the fact that he has a full time job as a Senator, should preclude him from this job.
My goodness, 2008 is a POTUS year...and we just LOST the House and Senate...we need a dynamic person with a new face, that will have the time and energy to try to boost the vote for our side.
That is what I have been saying. You need to call your national committee man and woman from your state and your State Chairman who sit on the National Committee. A new Chairman cannot take office permanently until they approve.
They can't even throw us a bone with the head of the RNC.
>>Do they think this is going to win them Hispanics who want AMNESTY and FREEBIES!! This is truly disgusting!>>
It's the same exact thing as before the election. Pandering and coddling a group of people (and ticking off their base in the process) that will NEVER elect them. What is wrong with these people? Have they been overtaken by pod people or covert agents for crying out loud? They are acting like they are WANTING the GOP to fail.
Now you are adding facts and personal information about this man and that will fly in the face of the knee jerk knowitalls.......how dare you!

I'd go for that. He is better than the current cast of clowns!
At this moment, I'm so fed up with the party, I don't care. Arrrrgggggggg.
The unappeasables are off the deep end. IMO.
Regards, Ivan
My biggest complaint is that he is a sitting Senator. That said something just hit me. Martinez could be a caretaker head of RNC to hire people to get it organized. In 2000 we had a GOP Chairman that was horrible and I said at the time I thought whoever was the candidate of the Party should choose the RNC Chair after he received the nomination so they would be on the same page.
