Enough of the polls--who do you want for president in '08?
You! | 11/12/06 | me

Tomorrow morning Survey USA is putting out a comprehensive poll of all 50 states about the race for President in 2008. They will put numerous potential candidates head-to-head to see who fares best.

But I want the opinions of those deep in the heart of the conservative blogosphere. Which Republican, any Republican, do you wish to see? From Pat Buchanan to Linc Chaffey (oops, he joined the Dark Side this week) tell me who you want and why? Same with the Democrats.

The winner will be Hillary or Rudy, if he can get the nomination. I choose Rudy.

I've got my fab 5 right here:

1.) Mitt Romney--conservative, articulate, good-looking,
2.) Mike Pence--ditto Romney. It's never going to happen
3.) Rick Santorum--ditto Romney and Pence. It's REALLY never going to happen.
4.) Rudy--definately not ditto Romney, Pence, and Santorum but we need a guy who will keep America safe. Other than that he's a dud.
5.) Mike Huckabee/Haley Barbour--tie. I like them both, they are both from the south, and both conservative. I'm not sure how good of candidates either make, though.

Not sure. ....but I can eliminate from consideration just about anyone who's crazy enough to actually want the job.

Oops. Tim Pawlenty should be up at the top, too. He's a proven winner and with the convention in Minneapolis he could be the GOP's comeback kid.

Right now, Newt Gingrich or Rob Portman. Don't know of Rob is interested though. Boehner would be good as well.

The winner in '08 won't be a frontrunner, nor second tier, of today.

If the demoncrats aren't careful, we'll be hit so hard, we'll be under martial law, anyway.

I don't know. Gingrich comes closest to my own views on most issues.

I have a question as I've just been researching various conservative politicians. Matt Blunt of Missouri seems to have a terrific record, but I haven't heard anyone mention his name at all. I don't know anything about him. Anyone?

John Bolton. At the very least, he'd give a lot of work to sanitation folks cleaning up all the exploded heads in the glitterati sections of the country.

I'd love to see Rick Santorum or Jeb Bush as president. Never happen.

In the realm of the realistic, I nominate Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani.

Don't know much about him. I know he's a good heartland conservative. That doesn't mean much, though.

Some combination of Pawlenty, Giuliani and Sanford. And I know I'll get flamed for Rudy, but so long as he agrees to leave the social issues to the states I think his leadership skills weigh heavily in his favor.
