I think this is s prudent course.
Here's my view.
No U.S. troops ANYWHERE where their is a civil war going on. We can supply all the arms and light weapons to the side we support. Other than that. NO. U.S. troops unless out national security is directly threatenedQ! PERIOD!
No more this "democracy nation-building" utopia crap.

Somethimes you have to physically have 'boots on the ground' to claim or hold that territory.
It is amazing that conservatives ever signed on to converting this war into a nation building affair. Had we not learned in Haiti, Bosnia, Somalia, Kosovo that this does not work. If a people have had no experience with democracy and are not conditioned to accept it, we simply cannot impose it on them. How in the world did we get to this point where One World Idealism was allowed to overrule common sense. The fact that the nation we are trying to build is in turmoi with people killing one another and our servicemen who for the most part are merely trying to help them with building hospitals, schools, power plants and oil pipelines. We should have declared this war over as soon as we defeated Saddam and his army. Let these stone age people go back to their stone age.

Did you forget why our troops went to Iraq in the first place? We didn't go there because of a civil war. But surely you know that. We must finish what we began. To pull out now would be akin to spitting on the graves of every one of our military men and women who have died in Iraq, and those who are serving there now! It would embolden the terrorists who have merged in Iraq as their battleground against the West, democracy in the Middle East, and their global Jihad.
I know far too many soldiers who would be furious at what you are suggesting. Folks like you may not have the backbone to win, but our troops do.
Our national security IS threatened by terrorists. The best way to stop the terrorists is to build a democracy in their midst. Do that, and we cut their legs out from under them and transform the middle east.
That is why terrorists have gone to Iraq from around the world (and died there). They KNOW they beat us there, or nowhere.
And the dems, aided by this ridiculous study group and a President that has abdicated his responsibilities, are seeing to it that they beat us in Iraq. Not militarily, but politically here at home.
Our National Security is threatened by all the Islamofacists in that region proclaiming 'Death to America'. We simply took out one unfriendly regime and now we have an ally in the WOT.
Ally is a two way street.

The world sez we are war mongers and thugs, then we should leave and take care of our own. Our media as well as the foreign press undermine our troops at every turn. They spill their blood on foreign shores and then are spit on and called murderers and criminals.
Why should we risk these brave men and women's lives when we have our own problems at home.
Bring 'em home. All of them, and now.
