The most important think everyone on this board needs to remember is we need to admit there were huge mistakes and fix them.

I agree that he goes to extensively in to detail to keep people's attention. That's why he's an idea man and should be officially in charge of the Republican Party at the RNC.

He can get all R's on message and saying the same thing day after day and holding the purse strings for campaigns will give him power over policy with RINOs.

The biggie was 'Healthcare'. They used each other in the appearance of moving to the center.

Wish someone here on FR could clue us in how getting Chairman position works and if there is any possible way we can influence that process.

Any tips from Freepers 'in the know'?

Why lose Newt to the money raising chores?

There are likely others better at that...he could help of course....

That's right... for all the people who say they will vote for McCain and not Newt because of Newt's personal past-- that person hasn't researched McCain's history.

McCain isn't a conservative so he can count on the media hiding that history and greasing the skids to help him win the nomination. Newt will have no equivalent support.

McCain is in for a big surprise if he does win the nomination. The same media that hyped him will turn on a dime to help his far more liberal Democratic opponent.

As far as Newt's chances go, his negatives are as bad as Hillary's and most conservatives consider her unelectable.

Who could ever forget the "Shut the government Down Fiasco"?

That is what the Republican majority was elected for. Newt did not follow through as promised.

Forget that Hillary is unelectable mantra

Democrats will vote for ANYBODY and if she starts saying the right words so will many in the GOP

I've been involved with politics since Goldwater '64, and Newt is the best strategist and tactician I've ever seen. Excepting Lee Atwater, perhaps.

The Republicans ignore his advice at their peril. That said, he's better working behind the scenes. Baggage. Got links if you want them.

But they really, really need to listen to him.

I think that kind of job would be right for Newt.

He is a political 'junkie' not a leader who should wield power, as he did as Speaker.

"But he has too much "baggage."

As does every effective Republican.

Newt, Cheney, Delay and more...they've all been politically destroyed by the Dems/MSM because they posed a real threat to Democrat power.

And even though McCain's a RINO, look to see his "baggage" come to light real soon once there's a consensus he might actually stand in the way of a HRC presidency.

"But he (Newt) has too much "baggage"."

Just about everybody in politics has some "baggage", just like the rest of us.

But if those on our side don't have it (or enough of it), the lying, vicious MSM and Liberal smear machines will invent it our of whole cloth for them. One need look no furher than the picture of a drunken George Bush dancing on the tables while lining some coke when skipping his Air National Guard Drills, simultaneously opting out of the Draft and the Vietnam War by hiding in the Texas Guard.

See? It's not hard, and these Stalinists are going to do it to anybody we put up.

At his for real baggage, or at the fact that people bring it up?

Even if you subtract all of Newt's personal baggage, there is still what he, himself has done to himself, in the political arena. Have you forgotten that he pushed the crazy Toffler's books; the last of which was crazy UTOPIANISM, overlaid with pseudo intellectualism and outright SOCIALISM/MARXISM? Have you forgotten all of his cavings and brown nosing to Clinton, which predated his MSM lynching? How about closing down the government, without thinking of the consequences and then NOT doing anything at all to fight back?

At one time, I was a BIG fan of Newt's, but then his actions spoke louder and more eloquently than any of his WORDS. And by the end, even his words were dross and not gold.

Please don't forget the facts......Newt has feet of clay, all the way up to his knees.
