"...we certainly need to be respectful of all of them," Bryant said

In what way is the use of "Merry Christmas" disrespectful?

FYI, Best Buy has a really consumer UNfriendly attitude about Christmas returns ( you should pardon the expression).

They will not accept returns, even with receipt, if they were purchased with a credit card. You have to take a store credit.

This happened to my daughter last year.

The e-mail I just sent:

It has come to my attention that Best Buy will not be using the term "Christmas" to describe that festival of family gatherings, gift-giving, and religious expression that culminate each year on December 25th.

If this information is incorrect, I'd like to hear it.

In the meantime, I'd like to let you know that I will be doing my Christmas Shopping only at those businesses which acknowledge, by name, the holiday that so often rescues their bottom lines from otherwise lackluster years.

In fact, I intend to return to Best Buy on the day I see a large "Merry Christmas!" banner strung across the facade, and not one day sooner.

Thank you.

Hope the individual actually reads it. Probably won't.

I wonder if Best Buy has ever calculated how many "Holiday" sales they would have without Christmas shoppers. What percentage of their sales are Chanukah or Quanzaa shoppers?

Just as I have for the last several years, I will be boycotting any store that bans all mention of Christmas.

"We are going to continue to use the term holiday because there are several holidays throughout that time period, and we certainly need to be respectful of all of them," Bryant said.

Let's forget the anti-Christian aspect for just a moment...this is a poor marketing strategy and bad business judgment.

Instead of endearing themselves to everyone, as business should do, they dilute the message entirely and do not personalize it for anyone.

In today's digital world of variable data, personalization, and 1:1 marketing technolgies, using a static, generic message is just so 20th century.

Having said all that, we know for sure this strategy was designed to suppress Christians.

Everybody sing:
"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas..."

"Merry Christmas" Ban
has now replaced the day after Thanks Giving as the official start of the Christmas season.

yeah, Best Buy has really gone downhill the past few years. Overpriced cheap crap with a few very overpriced quality goods sprinkled in.

That's fine. I hate them as much as they hate me. I intend to stock up on all of their loss-leaders on Black Friday and e-bay them for profit.

Best Buy Bans Use of Merry Christmas In Advertising

Then I will 'ban' Best Buy as a place to shop.

Used to be the ads for Christmas Song compilation albums were the first sign of the holidays.

Now it seems to be the so-and-so bans Christmas article.

Seems like I just finished deleting all the boycott chain e-mails only yesterday....

Several? Is three several?

There is one Christian holiday (Christmas), one Jewish holiday (Chanukka) , and one Socialist holiday (Kwanzaa). Am I missing any others?
