I voted R on Tuesday, and I still feel like a chump. That fence was never going to be built anyway, and, in our heart of hearts, we all know it. It was never funded. It was a last-minute bone to try and get the base to turn out for the election. Even if the Republicans had held both Houses, the fence still wasn't going to be built.

I too voted "R" knowing full well that the fence would never be built. I wasn't duped that day. I was self deluded, into thinking that perhaps the "Compassionate Conservative" would at least be conservative. And after all he wasn't Gore or Kerry.
That said, I have been and continue to be quite saddened by George W. Bush's presidency. As hard as I try and reconcile those feelings, I just keep coming up short. Even with the "after all" he wasn't one of them argument. Not that I ever wanted one of "them".
Our political system, while still the best in the world, is in a sad, sad state.

The fence bill was a major tactical mistake by the Reps. It gave the Dems cover prior to the election. Even Hillary voted for it.
