New al-Qaida tape says 12,000 activated (Pelosi still House Speaker)
Associated Press ^ | 11/10/06 | NADIA ABOU EL-MAGD

Al-Qaida in Iraq claimed in a new audio tape Friday to be winning the war faster than expected in Iraq, saying it had mobilized 12,000 fighters. The leader meanwhiled vowed his fighters will never rest until they have blown up the White House.

The group also said it welcomed the Republican electoral defeat that led to the departure of Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld.

Abu Ayyub al-Masri, also known as Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, also urged the U.S. to stay in Iraq so his group would have more opportunities to kill American troops.

"The al-Qaida army has 12,000 fighters in Iraq, and they have vowed to die for God's sake," a man introduced as al-Muhajir said in an audio tape made available on militant Web sites.

Al-Muhajir became the leader of al-Qaida in Iraq after Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was killed in a U.S. airstrike in June.

The tape could not be independently verified.

The speaker praised the outcome of Tuesday's elections in which Democrats swept to power in the House and the Senate, in large part due to U.S. voter dissatisfaction over the handling of the war in Iraq.

"The American people have put their feet on the right path by ... realizing their president's betrayal in supporting Israel," the terror leader said. "So they voted for something reasonable in the last elections."

Describing President Bush as "the most stupid president" in U.S. history, al-Masri reached out to the Muslim world and said his group was winning the war in Iraq faster than expected due to U.S. policies.

He urged Bush not to withdraw U.S. forces so al-Qaida could have more opportunities to fight U.S. soldiers. "We haven't had enough of your blood yet," he told the U.S.

The speaker also referred to Rumsfeld's resignation and called on "the lame duck (Bush) not to hurry up in escaping the same way the defense minister did."

"They are getting ready to leave, because they are no longer capable of staying," the al-Qaida leader said, referring to U.S. forces.

"Remain steadfast in the battlefield, you coward," he said, addressing Bush.

The last time I can remember feeling this badly was when that nasty bill clinton beat George H W Bush.

This is worse . We weren't at war then with troops in the field

The Japanese troops in WWII especially on Guadalcanal were brave and had terrible hardships beyond belief and didn't surrender etc etc

Those same type Japanese soldiers used babies for bayonet practice and hunted children like rabbits in areas of China they captured

I've had to shut off the news too. I'm turning to comfort food. Right now I'm eating a grilled cheese sandwich. I'll probably bake some pumpkin bread this afternoon. I figure this election will add about 20 lbs. on me. ;)

"This is worse. We weren't at war then with troops in the field..."

In this sense, you're quite right! I'll behave and leave it at that!

Have a great day!

"...I'll probably bake some pumpkin bread this afternoon..."

LOL LOL :):). Other than a new craving for pumpkin bread which occurred only seconds ago, it's all having the opposite effect on me. Amazingly, I've taken to madly cleaning my little condo, and drinking Chamomile Herb Tea with hibiscus flowers in it. But the news....no, no, no...I can get all the news I need here. I have turned my TV to Cold Case Files just for therapeutic reasons...helps me feel that perhaps there will be some measure of justice albeit delayed.

So, tell me "toomanygrasshoppers", how do I get to you and your pumpkin bread?

You've been a blessing to me this day!! :)

Needs repeating ... The biggest winners of the election was Al Qaeda and Iran.

I'm out in the middle of nowhere on the Texas prairie. The wind blows hard 24/7 from Sept through June and then it stops. Completely. From July through August it's hot and dry. That's what the grasshoppers like. Hence my name. :)

Keep the faith, Nancee! Life is good.

See "melancholy"! I've been all over the place today. And I am probably less welcome this afternoon than I was this morning!!

NLC

Sorry 'toomanygrasshoppers"! I just thought that perhaps "melancholy" might be in need of some pumpkin bread after reading a couple of my posts!!

Just remember, Nancy, that you can't win them all....You have to accept a loss sometimes, hopefully not too often.

That does it! Now I'm pissed. I DEMAND that Pelosi open a dialogue with these people immidiately before things get out of hand!
/s

Point taken.

But may I make a little comparison here?

President Bush and Secretary Rice both hailed as strong and meaningful, the UN sanctions against North Korea which specifically ruled out force as a consequence of noncompliance.

To me, this sounds sort of like a cop saying to an armed criminal: "Drop your weapon or I will issue you a ticket!

They may have 12,000 but they're made up of children & are pretty much their last bastions- so won't be long before we wipe them out... oooops forgot, We're going to 'redeploy' (interpretation- going to abandon the Iraiq people leave them hanging to face the terrorists by themselves')

ok.. tantrum voters.. this is what you have caused

May I also add, the "tantrum stay-at-home and not vote" people. The same people who claimed to be supporters of our troops, supporters of the WOT, and "pro-life". They can now step forward and accept partial responsibility for future deaths of our military men and women, the innocents killed by future terrorist attacks, future abortions (including partial-birth abortions), and on, and on, and on.

I wish I could have faith that their moral superiority was going to save us, but it won't.

Lincoln; created a new state from an existing one (WVA). Arrested the MD assembly. Made the federal agent in to an overwhelming force, that reduced sovereign states to provincial status.

I did read it yesterday, though I regret that I forget the source. Probably somewhere here on FR. Paying attention to those who speak out against Bush and for the Liberals it would seem accurate, though stunningly stupid for educated people who have already suffered oppression from terrorist sources.

"Remain steadfast in the battlefield, you coward," he said, addressing Bush.

Serve the SOB right if Bush would direct that a few JDAMs be "misprogrammed" to land on Al Jazzera offices in several Arab countries. And AP offices too in some cases. Or anyone else who accepts their propaganda tapes or other releases for broadcast or print.

You know we would have done that in WW-II.

Can you imagine what we, the people, would have done to a radio station or wire service spreading Nazi ranting?

Already watched 'em do it in 1975. Now they're going to do it again.

Makes you want to puke, or shoot someone, maybe both, doesn't it.

The Shiites will take care of AlQaeda and the Iraqi Sunnis in short order.

And then promptly ally with Iran and Hz'b Allah. Not an optimum solution.
