Newly re-elected Sen. Joe Lieberman has been promised by Sen. Harry Reid who is in line to become the next Senate Majority Leader that he will support Liebermans efforts to become chairman of the powerful Homeland Security Committee.
In a private phone call on Wednesday, Nevadas Reid told Lieberman that he would recognize Lieberman as the senior Democrat on the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, which would facilitate Liebermans move into the post.

Lieberman's conservativism is highly exaggerated. It boggles my mind how many people around here hate McCain, who's more conservative then Liberman on EVERY SINGLE ISSUE, significantly more conservative on everything but the WOT, which is about a tie, and still like Lieberman. Probably because McCain is insane. Lieberman is only democrat.

Yes, Alcee Hastings. But you won't hear the media talk about it.

His voice grates me too. But when he speaks 'normally', as though its just a conversation (ike on Hannity) he's fine. He needs to relax.

The first time I read this, I thought it meant a federal cabinet appointment! Connecticut's Republican Governor could of appointed a Republican for that Senate seat and created another 50-50 tie.

"HS" may well fit Joe now

I believe I'd trust him over most of the dems but I'm no authority on any of it.
