DALLAS (Reuters) - Thumped in Tuesday's elections, the Republican Party faces a dilemma as it prepares for 2008: trying to claw back support in the center while keeping loyal conservative Christians happy. Religiously motivated social conservatives are an important base for base for President George W. Bush and the Republican Party, which lost control of both houses of Congress in the elections amid voter anger over corruption, intrusive government and the Iraq war.

[ The joker in the deck here is if the Democrats can sit on their moonbats long enough to NOT screw it up and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory ]

In that case the Moonbats should be baited out of their caves.. So America can get a good look at em'... They are indeed blood sucking parasites.. America right now could use the heeby jeezys.. They have gone out of their way to elect some very ugly creatures to Congress..

I say bait them and taunt them.. into squeaking and flying into Americas face..

May I remind everyone this article is written by Reuters, the News organization that has no ethical problem in photoshopping war photos in Lebanon.

Those who believe in Christ should just shut up and sit quietly in a corner. That'd be best for all involved.

/s in case it's not obvious

Yes. And I'm surprised they did not offer to help the GOP
throw all us pesky Christians to the lions.

And now here is my gift to you:

Hundreds of campaign TV commercials going back to 1952.
Find a year on the left side and click on it. Then click on one of the stills on the right. Make sure you have at least an hour to kill, because it's addictive. Lots 'o fun!

The current crop of so-called "conservatives" were pathetic on fiscal responsibility as well as moral/social responsibility.

I worked on Reagan's campaign twice and this crowd is/was nothing like him.

Well .. anytime the GOP wants to dump the Christian right .. let 'em try it .. and they'll be out of power for another 40 years.

The plain fact is we always will suffer do to MSM propaganda. It's sort of like a ground rule for Republicans.

The dems can have Ted Kennedy actually show his face on TV.

We have Tom Delay get indicted on bogus charges.

Sucks, that's how it is.

Indeed.

I mean as a party, we need to put forward REAL Reagan conservatives.

It wins hearts and inspires the masses because it's real. It has depth and soul and pathos. Even conservative Democrats recognized it.

Let's return to the Reagan way of thinking as a party...and nominate Reagan republicans next time around.

"I think that you are wrong on this. The reason the GOP got booted is because the voters that the GOP count on refused to go to the polls on Tuesday. It's called the republican base."

You are guessing, and are wrong.

Republican turnout was fine.

Number ONE issue cited in polls of voters: Corruption. Other top issue Iraq.

What DID happen was a very high turnout of Independents, voting very democrat.

Independents. Corruption. Study.

Showing their bias in differential coverage between Kennedy and Delay is one thing.

Coordinating with the enemy to propagandize Americans with troops on the ground during war is treason.

Never would have been tolerated in WW2 and prior.

But that would have to include the libertarians that some Freepers are so happy now to blame.

Reagan was smart enough to include social and fiscal conservatives.

Funny how some have never learned from the past.

There's got to be some way that churches who want to keep their tax exempt status can legally start endorsing candidates, or at the very least, points of view.

The Republicans will NOT win if they move towards the Center and abandon the so-called Religious Right. The Party needs to be the same party it was in the 1980's and 1990's.

In fact, Republicans after the last four years or so are going to have to go earn back the state's rights crowd, because they did a bang up job of chasing them off.

Damn right! Amen to both of these statements.

So many links here for great reading this is why we lost!http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com/bushrecord.html

Pretty simple, nominate Rudy Giuliani in '08,

Stupid idea! i would never vote for that RepublicRAT even on my death bed he's Anti-gun & Pro-death he can go to hell for all i care, oh so now dig us into a deeper hole and make the party go extinct like one of our local talk show hosts here in SE WI said it will go 2 weeks before the election, we need to go back to our roots no question about it, i much prefer the Constitution party but it's a long way off to garner any votes.
