MAKER OF entertainment gear, Apple has decided to dump its 'Mac Guy' advertisements because the character is a 'smug little twit'. According to Radar Online, the advertising campaign was designed to show a PC guy and a Mac Guy talking about the advantages of their different systems. Of course the Mac Guy was supposed to win the argument.
Alas while viewing audiences felt that while the Mac Guy may have proved his case, most of them wanted to pummel the smug little twit into a coma and jump on his bleeding body until the cops arrived.
In fact most of them liked the PC guy, John Hodgman, better, which was not really the point.
The Mac Guy was Justin Long, whose agent has confirmed that he is no longer hawking Macs for Apple and was getting on with his memorable film career. When the ads came out, Seth Stevenson, ad critic for Slate, complained that Long was just the sort of unshaven, hoodie-wearing, hands-in-pockets hipster we've always imagined when picturing a Mac enthusiast.

Smug little twits describe Mac guys exactly. I don't know why they'd want to dump that ad campaign.
Unless, of course, they'd like to sell computers to people other than smug little twits.

My IMSAI 8080 is boxed and stored in my garage. It might make great entertainment someday for my grandkids. I even have one of the paper tape readers that require that you pull the tape through the reader by hand.

> So what are you using at the moment an Amiga 500 ???
I just fired up my A2000 last night for the first time in years!. It was a machine way advanced for its time.
We used to buy 'em used just to get the software libraries the sellers would throw in for free, so I wound up with...
A1000 with the Techmar 2 meg memory expansion and hugh 20 meg Winchester disk, (retail was around 2k$ for the memory and 2.5k$ for the hard drive!), paid a lot less used.
A1000 with a 68020 cpu upgrade
A2000 with a couple gig hard drive & gvp memory upgrade
a couple of other A2000's for parts
& way too many other boat anchors including a PLATO terminal (originally over 20k$) I picked up at a flea market for 20$.

What kind of software isn't even compatible with over 90% of the computers on the planet? Well, since only Macs can run all Windows software, Linus, Unix, and OS X software... natively... that makes them MORE compatible than anything else.

<< Dude, your (sic) getting a Dell! >>
Is "a Dell" a euphamism for a PC?
Those of us privileged to own and operate Macs, and I'm guessing you're (advisedly) not one of those, always think of a Dell as the kind of place PC People go to when they want to play with the other goblins, leprechauns and fairies.

We were talking about SOFTWARE, Jobs has castrated his software to save his generic "hardware company" Echo, since you do not use any Mac software, you are not qualified to have an opinion on that subject. We, who do, are.
