LEXANDRIA, Va. — Two days after American voters spoke, Virginia Republican Sen. George Allen made their decision final when he conceded his Senate battle to challenger Jim Webb, officially completing a Democratic sweep of Congress. Allen conceded the race at 3:15 p.m. ET during a press conference Thursday in Alexandria, Va. "Sometimes wins, political or otherwise, can blow the leaves off branches or even break limbs but a deep-rooted tree … will regrow in the next season," Allen said during his concession speech. The voters of Virginia have spoken, he said, "and I respect their decision."

Nobody's called him a pedophile and anyone who says so is a liar. He's a pervert porn peddler.

Military service is NOT the total defining characteristic of a man. Having served in the military does not make one immune to criticsm. And if you don't like it tough shit. We just got handed our asses in this election and we're not in the mood to to be preached at about the character of one of the most despicable 'Rats to win on Tuesday. If you want to sing his praises go register at DU...What am I saying? You probably already are, aren't you?

Alexander Hamilton had a storied military career yet he was not immune from criticism from our nation's second greatest President - one who stood head and shoulders above Hamilton as a man and American.

I think you have Webb wrong...he's a good man...seems to be a better man than most politicians. He graduated from the Naval Academy in 1968, 1 of only 18 graduates to receive the Superintendent's Commendation for outstanding leadership.

Although he could have accepted a Navy commission thereby maybe avoiding combat in Vietnam, he didn't. He instead took a Marine Corps commission... then graduated number 1 in his Basic School for Marine Corps officers class. Then served with the 5th Marines in the An Hoa Basin west of Danang where he saw a lot of ground combat, earned the Navy Cross (an award just below the Medal of Honor), the Silver Star, two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts.... none have ever been challenged like Kerry's. Its also worth noting that, unlike Kerry, Webb never repudiated the war and never made false accusations against his brother soldiers.

After his service in the Corps, he went to law school where (free of charge) worked to clear the name of a fellow Marine convicted of a war crime in Vietnam. Although the Marine committed suicide 3 years after Webb started working for him, Webb continued to work to clear his name...which he eventually did

He resigned as Secretary of the Navy in 1988 because he disagreed with Congress' plans to cut Navy funding. I think its always admirable when high level officials are willing to resign as a matter of principle

Webbs written many best-selling books...not only the novels we've had to read about as a campaign "issue" but he recently wrote a book about the history of the Scotch-Irish in America called "Born Fighting." He also won an Emmy for his PBS coverage of Marines in Lebanon. He has been a university English professor....at a time when high level bureaucrats and politicians usually trade in their connections for high paid consutants' jobs with government contractors or foreign governments, Webb did the old fashioned thing and went to work in academia

I think most Americans, Republican or Democrat, will find Webb to be a uniquely good man in the Senate

Apparently what he did 30 years ago was fantasize about seeing Pops suck on Junior's little giggle pin. FREAK!!! He gave the balance of power in the SEN to the DEMS. I hope that whoever was singing his praises about winning medals will remember that when the DEM appointed Sup. Court. enshrines PB Abortion because, of something like, "It is clear from the Cromwellian nature of a pluralistic society practicing an agrarian rooted system of Athenian democratic principles of substantially extroverted reasoning in Platonic subcontexts of mutually cogenereated patterns of paternalistic theocracy, that killing babies is really cool, and obviously a part of our Constitution."

Webb called on President Bush to do something about negative campaigns. LOL! "It is disheartening that Freepers have reached a point where all that matters is the (R) next to the name "

Gee, some of us don't want a lying nutcase in the Senate.

It's disgraceful that you do.

It's a shame you use Free Republic to advocate loonies for the Senate.

Webb is a patriot, who cares deeply about the security of this country. This is a guy who quit Ronald Reagan's administration because he though Dutch was too soft. In January Webb will be part of a 1 vote majority in the US Senate for a party whose leadership espouses positions on National Security that range from indifferent, to hostile.

If the Dems don't act like grown ups on National Security, Webb will have the choice of either repudiating everything he has ever stood for, or telling the Dem leadership to pound sand.

I think he would take the second option, and that we ought to make it very easy for him to change parties, or transition to an Independent, who caucuses with the Republicans.

Jumpin' Jim in reverse, only Webb would be leaving because his Party failed to carry out the policies he ran on, while Jumpin' Jim, Co-Chair of Bush's 2000 campaign in Vermont, switched because the Republicans did try to carry out in 2001 what they ran on in 2000.

Webb sold his "honor".
He got a good price.

It's a shame so many are blind to the facts, but you'll all see eventually.

He'll do exactly as he's told. Just like Chuck Robb, Kerry, Murtha and every other Dem vet.

Yeah, sure. Keep pretending he hasn't already made that choice.

Ignore all the money and support the Dems and the media gave him. That doesn't matter to Jim Webb LOL!

Interesting stuff.....

And to all you Freepers who supported Allen without question because of the "R" by his name, can you tell me
just how this transplanted Californian had the gall to point to this dark skinned guy who was actually born in Virginia and "welcome" him to the America and the real world of Virginia.

This isn't the first time he has been caught engaging
his mouth before his brain.

Presidential material? Best we weed out the train wrecks now before 2008.

I have a hard time believing it's a coincidence that Allen came up with the word out of nowhere like he and others have claimed, when it would have been commonly heard by his mother.

Where, at 'Skins games?

Yeah, sure. Keep pretending he hasn't already made that choice.

In a legislature, politics is about the next vote, not the last one.

Actually, since his election gives the Senate to the Democrats, the most important thing probably IS the D after his name. If he's such a good guy (politically) why is he a Democrat?

lol Yep typical democrap thinking- thinking a person PAST exempts them from all present ills- Guess if you serve in the military your excused from all future sins eh? Talk about disgraceful! Diheartening that democrats ignore a person's obvious problems just because they have a D next to their name, but yet crucify the R's for non issues like Macaca debacle!

I'm really curious how many women voted for this creep. Webb, by his
own comments/writings, really has a deep hatred towards the
female gender. Really curious.

I've had a real swinging of a pendulum in regard to Webb.
When I was young and would see him talking as a member of Reagan's
Administration, I thought he was something of a jerk.
Then I read "Making The Corps" and I was impressed by him.

But I think those passages from his books left me feeling negative.
With a guy with his writing skills, he certainly didn't have
to resort to trash to sell his books.
Unless he WANTED to put it in his books.

To me this says a lot. And it's not good.

"politics is about the next vote"

Yep, and Webb's next vote has been paid for by the Clintons and Kerrys. They know what they bought, and how to enforce payment. They own Webb or he wouldn't be there.

Here's today's little offering to his masters:
"I call on our president to publicly denounce the campaign tactics that have divided us rather then bring us together. "

You people defending this honorless sicko look like fools.
You'll see that yourselves one day.

This is just gross.

It's incredible that Allen went from a top-tier presidential contender to falling on his butt.
