Charlie Rangel: "Who the hell wants to live in Mississippi?" (..Said the Man From Harlem!!)
http://michellemalkin.com/archives/006337.htm ^

Posted on 11/09/2006 12:43:12 PM PST by WBL 1952

Charlie Rangel opens his mouth...and mocks the South: (hat tip: reader CRB)

“It’s not just committees — our influence within the House Democratic caucus will grow enormously,” Mr. Rangel said in an interview.

To that end, he sketched out an expansive federal agenda: Teaming up with Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg on gun control, passing new tax incentives for urban job programs, and redirecting federal money to New York in return for the outsize tax collections that the federal government makes here.

“Mississippi gets more than their fair share back in federal money, but who the hell wants to live in Mississippi?” Mr. Rangel said.

Mail that link to Chuckles. I wonder if he understands that irony is not part of the periodic table.

Right, the very same NYC where archeologists recently unearthed voluminous evidence of NORTHERN -- specifically NEW YORK -- financial involvement in the SLAVE TRADE which OSTENSIBLY prompted the sanctimonious and holier-than-thou NORTH to goad the SOUTH into the War Between the States.

Stick YOUR holier-than-thou attitude re. the South where the sun don't shine.

> Mississippi is one of our most beautiful states. I have driven the Natchez Trace Parkway several times during the fall leaf season. Fabulous! <

And you need to go there again, but in the Spring when the dogwoods are in bloom!

[Last week in March is usually good.]

I haven't read all the replies and hope this hasn't been mentioned already.

"U.S. Rep. Gene Taylor, D-Miss., said he believes Mississippi will be treated fairly by Rangel and other Democratic leaders."

So once you go to Washington I guess it's customary to forsake your constituents and play ball for the team. Taylor wussed-out by not standing up for his state.

Outstanding. When I first saw the 'Red Devil' moniker, I thought you might be or have been, a member of the Parachute Regiment (UK). Your tagline clarified that.

I have too much going on right now to do it- but sometime while I am living in the DC area, at least once I want to go to the Ball at Eighth and Eye.

Charlie Rangel wanted him to open that office in Harlem. Wonder if ole Charlie had a financial interest in that rental. Slick chose another office in Manhattan that was about a half million a year in rent. Uproar ensued and he backed off.

The scum is costing the taxpayer millions in security and travel for him and his cohort.

what you are saying is not entirely wrong. Also a ton of NYC real estate was bought up by Europeans because the buying power of the Euro basically got them the property at a big discount compared to Americans buying with US dollars.

But there was a lot of complaining through the late 90's and into the 00's about "gentrification". Meaning, damn whitey is moving in and making it too expensive.
