"his Republican opponents predicted a bloody intraparty fight but said they cannot stop such a bill from passing."

Give me a break, most of the new Dems in house do not support amnesty! If my congressman along with the new anti-amnesty dems cannot stop this, then I will be voting out my last remaining republican representative!

Tester actually seems to be, at least publically, at least as strong against illegal immigration as Burns was:

From Tester's web site:
Our first priority must be to secure ports and borders to keep out terror threats, illegal drugs and illegal immigrants. Jon Tester opposes amnesty for those who are here illegally. People who want to come to America should follow the rules — and we should enforce them. There should be no cuts in line. Moreover, hiring illegal aliens is no joking matter. Tester believes we need to enforce the law on employers who hire illegal immigrants no matter who they are. It’s not just a matter of fairness — it’s a question of national security.
Brown also has a slightly better voting record on amnesties than DeWine did.

Most of the new Dems in the house ran as moderate conservatives, but (like Max Cleland in GA) they will govern as liberal Democrats. Say what you must to get elected and then do what you want-the democratic stategy is to lie, lie and lie to the voters.
