Set to become the US' first female speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi says Democrats are "ready to lead" in partnership with Republicans, "not in partisanship".
President George Bush called Pelosi with congratulations this morning after Democrats took firm control of the House, rebounding after a dozen years in the minority.
Pelosi, 66, who made history four years ago when she became the first woman to lead a party caucus in either house of Congress, will become third in line of succession to the president when she is elevated to the speaker's position at the beginning of the new Congress in January.
It will be the highest elective office ever reached by a woman in the US.
Pelosi will be formally re-elected as her party's leader, and its nominee to be speaker, when the Democratic caucus meets on November 16 to choose its standard-bearers for the next Congress.
Democrats, Pelosi said, "intend to lead the most honest, the most open and the most ethical Congress in history".

The press will hide everything about the dems - no matter how horrid it is. The problem is - the drive-by really doesn't set the agenda anymore - and they know it. It will be much harder for the drive-by to hide things like they did with Bubba.
However, watchout for the "Fairness Doctrine". That will be a nightmare for talk radio.
The radio shows can be fair by giving goodie-goodie news about the liberals; things like citing good driving records (if they stay away from the Kennedy family), fair payments for cosmetic surgery, paying above minimum wages for their servants and itemizing their donations to the ACLU, the organization that protects our civil rights.
Hmmmm....maybe, maybe....that will work.

Don't have time now, but there have been a couple of threads (one I posted) with some rich info on Nancy and her business dealings, such as her restaurant chain is one of the very few that won't hire union workers.
She IS Hillary's kind of girl!!

Exactly. Yesterday I was in a waiting room so, unfortunately, was forced to be in the same room with CNN.
They had Rahm Emmanuel on and he ticked off a list of Repubs who (were defeated and who) had been linked with scandal.
He totally did not mention that many Rats who were linked with scandal, including Harry Reid with Abramwhatzhisname among other things.
This really stinks.
I will never believe her.
