Please Direct Your Anger and Efforts Against Liberal Democrats
Posted on 11/08/2006 12:04:55 PM PST by Williams
If I get one vanity this is it. Left wing approaches are doomed to failure. They threaten our prosperity and our very lives. This is based on history and common sense. The enemy of a successful America is not a political party. It is wrong headed leftist thinking.
Americans are generally conservative and polls always show they do not want to be labeled as liberals. But "we" allowed one of the dominant political parties to become radically left wing, and we treated them with courtesy and credibility all the way. The democrat party harbors representatives who are so Marxist and so offensive that the American people should have demanded a purge before returning democrats to power. Many of those extremists will now hold powerful positions. If there is a failure by republicans, it has always been a failure to call the leftists out loudly by name, to embarrass them for their radical viewpoints. Instead, they are largely ignored and treated like colleagues for a variety of reasons - all political and all bad for America.
We tolerate the democrat marxists because they are in safe democrat districts and we don't devote resources to defeat them. They represent minorities who don't vote for us anyway, so we ignore them. We are afraid to confront some because they are minorities. To some extent we like having radical democrats, because we think that will help republicans get elected in more moderate districts.
But there was going to be the day when democrats returned to power. And that day is dangerous because the democrat party became a leftist party. If they were conservatives or even moderates they would not threaten our security or economy to this degree. But they do.
So don't eat our own, don't attack our president who certainly is not a leftist. Attack leftist ideology, insist that republicans get tougher in the battle of ideas. Demand that leaders recognize the ultimate objective is our lives, fortunes and sacred honor. It is not a political chess game. When democrats say the American people want to raise our taxes or weaken our security and abandon our allies - demand that our leaders say "Like Hell!" And that they ridicule leftism as an offensive prescription for disaster.
Democrats won by running some more conservative candidates in key races, and hiding their liberal leadership. Let's make sure we remind them that the election was NOT about change from conservative to liberal.
As we all know, the republican party harbors some incredibly stupid liberal Senators. The problem is the democrats have far more of them. Encourage republican conservatives to stand up to them. Force the democrats and republicans to become more conservative. If you just throw out the Rinos the left wing democrats will fill the void.
Don't ever lose heart and abandon this country to the leftists. They are despicable and they will get you or your children killed.
Support the president, thank God for him at this moment. Just remind him that America is a conservative nation. Let's make sure "liberal" and "left wing" remain dirty words.

Why, he's only doing what the voters dictated, don't you know?!!! They have now told him the "War on Terror" idea is a "bust", he doesn't spend enough on social programs, and "strict border enforcement"/"no new immigration" was not as important as we thought it was, didn't you get the memo? We've elected Democrats and those pesky, criminal, Republicans, you love to hate, are gone!! Celebrations are in order--for you anyway.
You get what you vote for, or, in this case, you get what you "didn't vote" for.

Of course they will maintain some semblance of "conservatism" during the next 2 years, just how much is anyones guess. They were given an "open door" by all those "right thinking" Conservatives, and they aren't going to let the door hit them in the ass getting through it!!

I've found that many so-called conservatives call themselves conservative simply because they are ashamed to be called liberal. Whatever they are, the Dems will continue to use their gullibility as long as they can.

It occurs to me that there are two ways to make the nation's governance more conservative. One is to support and elect conservative Republicans. I do that, and we in my state (South Carolina) have had some success doing so. I believe the last 12 years have shown the limitations of such an approach: 12 years of a completely Republican Congress with a Republican President for the last 6 - and have we gotten everything we wanted?. The other side can always block you effectively, in the Senate if nowhere else.
The other way is to move the Democratic party to the right by electing some more conservative Democrats (and I believe there are some who are, at least, less liberal than others). I am not saying we should elect Democrats in conservative Republican districts, because no matter how conservative a Democrat is, their own party politics will not allow them to advance the agenda I want advanced. However, a more conservative (or, at least, less liberal) Democratic party will move the center rightward (since the center is usually accepted to be between the two parties). If the center moves right, it becomes less likely that the agenda I want advanced will be blocked when my party is back in power.
This election cycle may have done just that. Many of the newly successful Democratic candidates are far less liberal than Pelosi and her crowd. If some of those less liberal minds can work their way into the Democratic leadership, my agenda is likely to benefit in the long run.
I admit that my conservatism is more fiscal than cultural. I am very culturally conservative, I just do not think it is government's function to define morality. For example, I believe it is better to stop an abortion by changing the cultural value that accepts the killing of fetuses than to do so by government fiat, and it is more lasting and effective as well. As such, I would welcome spending cuts and a decrease in the size of government whether initiated by the Republicans or Democrats. The same with entitlement reform, immigration control, and the maintenance of a strong military. If we could get Democrats to put forth moderate rather than liberal judicial candidates, the courts, too, would move rightward as the old-guard liberals retire.
I think of the plight of black voters and unions, who are either ignored by the Republicans or taken advantage of by the Democrats as there is no real likelihood either would ever vote for anyone but a Democrat. I fear we Conservatives, by putting all our eggs in the Republican basket, allowed ourselves to be taken advantage of in the same way over the last few years. The Republicans seem to think we will swallow huge education bills, gigantic new entitlements like the Medicare drug plan, amnesty for illegal aliens, and the like without complaint. After all, what are we going to do, vote for a Democrat?
Maybe it is time to consider diversifying our political portfolio. Perhaps it is as important to defeat the Pelosis within the Democratic Party as it is to rid ourselves of the Chafees and DeWines?
Okay, you may flame when ready, Gridley.

You are one very, very smart cookie, and the Dims had better look out for you!!
You have seized on a "truth" that has flown right over the heads of so many of the continually nay-saying, right-wing uber-Conservative, malcontents that dwell here!! You cannot be a lazy conservative! IF YOU DON'T LIKE WHAT YOUR PARTY IS OFFERING, THAN BY GOD, CHANGE IT! You can't "rest on your laurels", OR past victories, and expect someone else to do it.
God Bless You, and welcome to the party of Lincoln/Reagan! We can ALWAYS use smart young folks! And do take heart, Oklahoma was ALWAYS a dirty "yellow dog", Little Dixie, Dim state. We Republicans have a way to go, but we're getting there--through the efforts of smart young folks like you (and me, LOL). Hang in there, honey, it can happen!

Yes, I must admit I was "surprised" that any normal, "right" thinking individual could rationalize that "staying home" or electing Dims would be an improvement---or that they could be so impossibly, short-sightedly, stupid that they would believe turning the country over to Democrats would be "good for the country".
Why haven't you Arizonans gotten rid of McCain, probably the biggest RINO of all? Sounds like somebody needs to start working those primaries!

"Libertarians are for borders and national sovereignty, aren't they?"
Nope. They view illegal cheap labor as "market forces", actually good for the country.

God Bless You, and welcome to the party of Lincoln/Reagan Thanks! Actually I have always been a Republican. My mom & Dad were Republicans, but when I turned 18 my mom told me to register as an independent so I wouldn't be solicited at a time of my life when I couldn't afford to give anything. As I have moved my way from Upper Michigan(Yooper)to North Carolina (Dixie)over the last 30 years, I have continued to register as an independent or unaffiliated voter, but with a very conservative opinion. I guess I got used to letting everyone else do all the real work. Your the first Freeper to call me Honey. Since my wife isn't a Freeper, I get away with it this time!
To: Dixie Yooper
That's OK, I'm married too (for nearly 40 years, in fact)!!
Being from Oklahoma, and having roots in Texas, Mississippi, and Louisiana, we folks south of the Mason Dixon have a tendency to "Hon" everyone (especially those we like)!
No wonder you're so smart, you come by it honestly. Your Mom sounds pretty wise too!
